Why do we drive 200 miles to see things when we have things to do and see in our own area? We have a park very similar to 6 Flags right here in our city. We have never been there. I imagine we have been to 6 Flags , about a 100 mile drive , 10 times over the years but have never been to the park here. I read in the paper that they had a huge crowd at the park here because so many people couldn't afford to travel. At age 62, these parks don't do a lot for me but we have never even considered taking the grandchildren there. I think we will now. But it is true, we have things here , that people drive here to see and we drive to other places when we have not seen all the things to see right here in our own city. I know we are not the only ones who do this. Tomorrow is our 44th anniversary! We are going down town for dinner at our favorite but expensive restaurant. Maybe we will make it a day and go to the art museum also.
Do any of you have things of interest in your own area that you have never seen?

When I lived in St. Louis I didn't go up in the Arch until after I moved away and went back to visit. :)
Happy Anniversary tomorrow!

Actually we have a place here called Stone Mountain, it is BEAUTIFUL. We have been there though and wouldn't mind going again. Beings as close to Atlanta we have the Coke Museum and Zoo Atlanta and we haven't been there. But we know the Atlanta traffic and it isn't worth it to us.

I can't think of anything we have righht here in this immediate area that we have...nothing major anyways. It's a good hours drive (maybe more) to get to anything special and I think I've been to most of it

Arkansas is famous for the diamond mine, and I've never been there. I'm in the same county and have to go there often to the court house. It's a very small town and I drive right by the entrance and never once have I stopped.

I've lived up in this area for 11 years and there are many places in Lexington we could go to that I never have, but I just haven't had the desire to do so. We don't have any amusement type parks though. For that you have to drive to Louisville, Cincinnati, or down south.

i think it is human nature to go and not stay around the home area cause a person thinks i live there and can see that anytime, but i may never get to see this certain thing a ways from home.

Fred thank you for the beautiful Anniversary congratulations. I can tell you after 44 years that marriage is hard. We are still together just because we didn't both want a divorce at the same time. But now it is wonderful to be together.

well, living in charleston sc we could do something around here within 25 miles of where i live every day for a year and still not see it all. the beaches, the lakes, the swamps, the forest, nature and wildlife stuff, the forts ie sumter and moultrie, the museums, war stuff, the plantations...many of them, aquariums, the shopping, the nightlife. forget it about it. we do alot of the stuff but could never see it all or afford it.

LOL, I've never seen that Indian thing either come to think of it. I'm not even sure what it is. I've seen the entrance to it too though. LOL
Gas had dropped down to $3.05 in Hot Springs last night.
I just thought of something PrincessArky, your family wants to get to Australia. And they are having a contest right now on The Australia Zoo website where you can film a short video of you or your family and tell Bindi & Terri why you would like to come to Australia zoo. It's a deal they are doing for Bindi's birthday. If you filmed your kids saying they would like to get to see their Australian family they might just pick you guys. It's worth a shot. :)

OMG that just makes me cry thinking about it. The Australia Zoo is going to be our first stop, the Sydney, then finally to the family home in Melbourne. Steve Irwin has such a special place in my heart that I always wanted to meet him and see the zoo.........at least I will get to see the zoo. Gonna see if I can get in on the contest thanx for letting me know

I hope you win!!! I've watched allot of the submitted video's on there and all I've seen so far is just Steve Irwin fans posting mostly. Or animal biologist. The whole contest is suppose to be for Bindi's birthday. And I've yet to hear anyone say what a big fan of Bindi's they are!!! Just a hint so you know. And that whole family has big hearts so if you tug at their heart strings about how wonderful it would be for your kids to get to go meet their Australian family I bet that would really catch their attention! Also you might want to say something about how you are sorta like Terri because you married a Australian bloke too ;) Let us know when you post something. I will be sure to vote for you!!!!

They are such big hearted people that I bet they would fly your whole family out if you won. It's worth a shot. And even if you just won 2 tickets that's still allot closer to your goal of getting to go. I bet you could raise the money for the rest of the tickets. Take the 2 tickets for adults, then raise the money for the kids tickets. But I bet you she will give you the money for the rest of your kids to come. At least try it, what have you got to lose? :)
