How can the insurance companies have SUCH a difference in charges?!? We have been with progressive for over a year, wanted to add my 18 year old to policy-they wanted over 120/mo more to add her on. Went to geico, got the same coverage for only 45/mo more. Same coverage, but an $80/mo difference? Have joined up with the Lizard! (Gecko-whatever it is):burnout:

I love geico, progressive was about $1000 more a year for me than geico. Geico service is great too, some of my friends have had a hard time with progressive. It's nice to have a choice though, when I lived in MA, there wasn't much of a choice, they were all expensive.

Just for grin's you might want to call you local allstate office. We had been with nationwide for years and just kept going up- switched to allstate and save 400.00 a year just on the cars and 1oo.oo on renters...

I've never had Geico as an insurance company... but I can say this for them: When accidents happen, they are one of the EASIEST companies to deal w/. We got side swiped in a double turn lane by a Geico insured driver. The time before we'd been in an accident the insurance company was a real pain to deal w/... but Geico sent out someone to look at the car the next day and sent us a check (for honestly, much more than even we thought the ding was worth) w/in a week... they are such a breeze to deal with.

We have been with Geico for almost 8 years. We have had nothing but the best service from them. We've done quotes with different companies to see how their rates compare from time to time and have stuck with them because their rates are the best.

We just switched to geico when I got my license in February.
We had been with a local company and we paid $80/mo for 1 driver and 2 cars. Then they wanted to tack on another $40/ mo to add me.
Called geico and now we pay $58/mo for 2 drivers and 3 cars...
wish I would have called them years ago!

We are also dedicated Geico fans. We have had them since 1998 and have never had a problem with them. We also have our renters insurance through them, plus we have the emergency road service. That's $2.00 a month, but it has been well worth it. Over the years I've had to be towed a few times, they even brought me water on the interstate when I over heated. We just think they're great.

Wow! Anytime I've gotten a quote from GEICO, it was a couple hundred
more per 6 months than Progressive was.......just me, just one small car.
No accidents, tickets, or anything.
Maybe I'll have to check them out again.

I switched to Geico years ago for that very reason. We were rear-ended on the freeway, the lady who hit us had Geico. Not only were their representatives extremely friendly, but they sent someone to us to look over the damage. We had a check in days, and it was for more than we thought it would be. Periodically I check rates, but they are always lowest.
A few years earlier I had been rear-ended by another woman who had Allstate. I was at a stop sign, she never hit her brakes and she nailed me. Totally her fault. Allstate refused to pay the claim, actually hired an accident recreationist. TWO YEARS later, two days before our jury trial (yep for a rear end accident) they settled for 10x the amount we had originally requested, because now we had 2 years of attorney fees. That doesn't include their attorney fees, court time, blah blah blah.
I had my home owners policy with Allstate at the time, and dropped them at my renewal, I figured if that was how they decided to spend my premium fees, to fight when their driver was clearly in the wrong, I was done with them.

Us too, we get it through farmers and the farmers agents we have dealt with are incompetent and for the most part lazy imo.

I'm with Geico also. I was in an accident and they got me a rental car withing 2 hrs of my accident and let me keep it almost 2 weeks till I found a new car. About 4yrs ago, someone hit me and they had State Farm insurance. This guy was running from the police, ran a red light and hit me and another car and then jumped out of his car and took off running. It took his insurance company 4 days to give me a rental car, and even longer to get a check for my totaled car. It was irritating when it was clearly the other guys fault.

Geico wanted alot more for us as well?!?! I wonder how they decide who gets what rates? I was thinking maybe its because I live in a Metro area??? I know the closer you get to Atlanta the more they charge for insurance.

We're with Allstate. We carry $100,000/$300,000 limits on our policy. The Ranger and an Escape both have full coverage and comprehesive. 2 of the 3 Mustangs we have carry only liability with comprehesive, the other Mustang just has just comprehesive since it is not driven. 2 adult drivers at the moment and our monthly payment is around $145 per month.
Someone I know got it by a Geico customer who only carried state minimun cover - the driver was an unlicensed teenager who cost this man BOTH his legs when she pinned him against his van - lot of times Progressive and Geico carries are only carring state minimum coverage - which does nto go far when something tragic happens.

Checked again with Geico - they wanted almost $70 every 6 months
more than what Progressive charges me for the same coverage.
Wonder why it's so far cheaper for some people, and more for others.....
I do have a clean driving record and have been licensed for over 30 years.
Oh well.....glad it's cheaper for some of you!

If any of you are military I suggest checking with USAA. if you don't already know about them. I have yet to find a company to beat their rates!!!
Heidi

We're military and even USAA was about $50 a month higher than Geico.

I had 2 accidents in a three week period...different sides if the car involved.....one was a faulty light (t-bone) and the other I was hit while double parked (rear-end). Nearly totalled the car, Geico was a dream to work with........ Prior we had Colonnial Penn and switched to Geico because they were cheaper. Haven't compared lately.

Wow that really shocks me.... I have done a lot of checking around and no one has come close for us. In fact, for us, Geico broke the bank!!! LOL Gotta go where you get the most bang for your buck...right?

My dad has been with State Farm for years. We call about once a year to get rate quotes. Noone has beat them yet, except on my mobile home insurance, which they refused to insure after the fire. Sometimes you get good customer discounts(while your bill won't go down, it doesn't go up when other companies are going up) which is why you can't get lower quotes.
