I've been there. After I became a Christian, I know I was scared about my fiance, who was agnostic. In my ignorance, I tried to bully him into the church, and I had to back off when he told me I was making him even less likely to become a Christian. So I started praying for him.

What finally did it is when I said to God, "You know, Chris may never be a Christian. It might be part of your plan for him, I don't know. But I'll love him no matter what your plan for him is."

About two weeks later, he took me to see The Passion of the Christ. He was silent as we left the theater, and I thought he was mad at me, and when I asked him what was wrong, he was crying. We drove home, sat on the porch and he said, "Remember when I said that it would take God Himself to kick me in the butt and give me faith?"

"Yeah," I said, barely able to breathe.

"I got the kick," he said quietly. Of all the things I was expecting, that wasn't it. I'd read about people converting because of that movie, but I wouldn't have guessed Chris would have in a million years.

Later that year he started RCIA classes, and the next spring was baptized, confirmed and took the Eucharist for the first time. Chris said he thinks that the reason it took so long is I was trying to do the work that only God could do. Once I backed off, God could shine through.

Sometimes it's hard to be the spouse of an unbeliever. Not everyone is as lucky as we've been. But we can rejoice when we let go of our ideas and let God use His own.

Ravenamore, we watched The Passion of Christ a few weeks ago at church-I don't think I moved a muscle through the whole movie. I sat quietly and shed a thousand tears. Oh, what HE went through for all of us. What a GREAT man HE is.

I know many communities had church vans parked outside theatres for people who wanted to talk after seeing the movie.
