I need computer help.

I have ran ad-aware, spybot, avg and ewido and it catches all kinds of stuff, i'll list a few...
Downloader.tiny.nch
rootkit.agent.ef
downloader.agent.awf
hijacker.agent.jh
downloader.nurech.bh
trojan.kloan
trojan.qhost
prozy.small.osw

the list goes on. But.....nothing has worked, the computer closes pages on its own, shuts down and restarts on its own. I start it in safe mode with networking and i start to type something in the search bar and it closes out. I have been scanning the friggin computer for 3 days now and says it has fixed the problems but it acts up again so i scan it again and same thing...there were 47 trojan horse, hijacker...etc when I scanned it this morning.
I disconnected the eathernet cord from the comp and the damn thing went crazy pulled up over 50 pages in a matter of seconds by itself.

HELP

btw , the PC in question is my kids computer ....need I say more?

Thanks in advance

hmmm... try restarting in safe mode without the networking, then run your anti-virus program. my bf and I have to do that sometimes with those nasty little "hangers on"

Or...have you tried reformatting the hard drive? thats the easiest way to get rid of the nasties that I know of..

I don't think avg does a boot scan anymore i could not find where to turn it on on the new version. Go to trend micro and run house call and it will remove the viruses and if it can't compleately remove them it will tell you how. it's free.

ok the scan didnt work because.....the damn think keeps restarting itself at bootup....
but before it started doing this i was able to download avast and it scans at bootup ...its on its second scan, the first time it caught 10 viruses I have lost count now
I'm totaly lost. I have owned 5 computers and the one before this my brother screwed up and its sitting out in my garage in a box, it wont even boot. I fought my husband tooth and nail to get the one that is infected now for the kids for Christmas and then this happens, I will never hear the end of it from him If I cant fix it.
I have read and read and read about this stuff online the last 3 days and my brain hurts now.

If your computer has a system restore option, you may need to turn it off first, then restart in safe mode and run your scans since it stores files and folders in its restore points, it won't allow those files to be deleted. I had some stuff on mine and couldn't get them to delete and found some info online telling me to do this first and it worked like a charm. Just remember to turn it back on when everything has been removed and you restart in regular mode. ;)

I have done that....it has not helped

I contacted geek squad , because I know of nobody else in my area that works on computers. They ran me through some stuff to check before I had them remotely help me, and that didnt help. I cannot keep IE up even in safemode w/ networking because everytime I go to type something in the search bar, it closes out, even if I do the ctrl+o. Thats gonna be like $200 down the damn drain...grrrrr

My computer guy works at our local Staples store and when we had a bunch of nasties on it he only charged me about 70 bucks to reformat the whole computer. I mean dump everything and put back windows so try calling around. who knows, maybe you'll come up with someone who can do that for cheap!! Good luck!

I just got off the phone w/ my SIL ....they had the same problem w/ one of their computers a few months back. She said to take it to Best Buy and they will do a system diagnostic and remove what they can and what they cant they will tell you what to do. She also recommended PC-cillan and spysweeper. I'll have to wait untill next weekend to take it to Best buy but i'm crossing my fingers that they can fix it with the diagnostic, because if we have to fork out money to fix it, my husband will totaly ban the kids from using the computer again..lol and i'll get the dreaded " I told you so " ...:o :D

did your computer come with a recovery disc? if so, put that in and reboot your computer. it will probably come up and walk you through reformatting it. that is probably the very best solution to your problem. if you lived near me, i would be happy to take care of it for you. we work and build computers on the side. you are welcome to pm me if you have any questions and i will help you all i can.

My computer was hi-jacked a year ago. It is not easy at all to get rid of this problem. I was in contact with a forum that helped get rid of hi-jackers. It is a whole bunch of steps and it did not work for me. I ended up getting my hard drive scrubbed. Good-bye hijackers!!

Good Luck,

Julie

guess what, i'm on the said computer now....

I tried restoring the computer w/ the disc ,....did nothing
I restarted the computer and while it was restarting I held down the F10 key and it took me to a screen where I could reformat and restore. That fixed it , i'm doing a system scan right now w/ nortons ( thats all I have right now) and ad-aware, spybot search and destroy, and what ever other free utililties that I dont have to download and i'm running to best buy tomorrow and getting the programs my SIL told me to get. This thing will be tougher than fort knox when I get done w/ it.

Ok on to another computer...lmao

I have a compaq presario that wont even let me do a system restore w/ the disc ....says there is not enough memory for a particion something or other and some other crap I cannot rememeber.

There was a virus out a couple of years ago. It would start up and shut down computers if I'm not mistaken. I can't remember the name of the virus though. Maybe someone will remember the name of it and then you can check to see how to remove it if you have it.

If you have your Windows Cd, you can always Nuke ure comp and start fresh, Thats what my husband did and does every now and then, he had a nasty virus a few weeks ago that kept shutting his comp down, and only would turn back on when he unplugged the power cord from it and back in. So he nuked it to see if that would work, and it did! Runs perfect now! Only bad thing about nuking it is u will lose everything u had on it , unless its on a cd. You can pm me for more info on how to nuke it, will have to get the info from my husband, but if all else fails, thats usually guranteed to clean it, if done right! Kinda scary to do it, if u dont kow what ure doing!:)

U have to have the full windows cd to do it, cant be one that came with ure comp when u bought it, unless its a full version!

There is something else to keep in mind if you have a problem with the computer rebooting on you. It could be a hardware problem. Many computers over the past few years have had a problem with bad capacitors.

There are only a few suppliers of capacitors and a large batch of them were bad several years ago. Our vendor had to replace 1,000's of motherboards in our agency because of this problem. The capacitors would bulge or leak as they heated up, causing the systems to lose power or stop.

It wasn't just one computer builder either. All three of our vendors from the past 6 years had this problem. (Dell, ABS, Micron) They were all very good about replacing the motherboards when they went bad.. And Dell went so far as to pre-emptively replace many of our affected systems. (My office got a shipment of 35 motherboards in one shot.)

I'm sure in the OP's case, it was probably a virus that caused the problem, but keep in mind that hardware can be at fault as well. If I can find a public web page describing the problem, I'll try to edit this post and include it. (I can't publish our internal page.. Sorry)

It could also be a bad power supply. We had that type of problem with our server at our office and after the 4th tech came out - one of them suggested we try a new power supply - been working great for a year later. And you would think the 20 electricians we have around there could have guessed that problem but NO it takes 4 IT techs to figure that one out (and one Bookkeeper to change the thing out).
