Okay so we were out to supper with my in laws, my mom and her husband and some friends of theirs. And Gary, their friend, who is very opinionated,
made some comment about cc's charging alot of interest or something. We were talking about campers because my inlaws just bought a new one. Well it was a 2003 that had never been sold. (which i thought was wierd, wouldnt you try to push that camper if you have had it for 4 yrs, okay i'm getting off topic)
anyway gary made some comment about $13,000 charge.ANd i said why would you borrow that much on a cc instead of a bank? And he scooted around the question. He kept putting down cc's and the company's.
And i said they all pay me to have them. Which he said there is no way a cc pays you to have them. I said if you pay off your bill ever month and you get 5% for purchases they are. I have 2 mastercards. ONE pays 5% on gas, grocery and pharmacies. and 1% on everything else in reward pts.
The other mc pays 2% in gas, groc. and pharm. and 1% everything in cash back. so i use the first one for gas, groc. and pharm. And the other one for everything else cause i would rather have cash back. I also have a menards card and you get 2% cash back which is really a check to use in their store. Plus every month they send you coupons and its usually has free stuff;)
I never pay a finance charge!! I pay them off every month. so there they do pay me to have them. I earn an average of 300 - 500 a year depending on what we buy a year. does anyone else have this story;)
Lets hear them and thanks for listening to me rant. Its just burns me when people says its the cc companys fault they are in debt. They did not spend the money!

I get paid by my cc's also...
We never wanted any cc's until we realized how bad our ex's
screwed up our credit so we decided to to try to " fix " our credit
w/ credit cards.
None of the cards ( and we have I think 9 now) have I ever paid interest on because like you , we pay them off every month. I have a walmart discover that we use just at walmart for groceries and gas...I get 3cents off each gallon of gas and around my town walmart is usualy the cheapest anyway. I get a check for $10 probably every 2 months from discover. All of the other card we have , we also earn points or money back from...so yes they do pay you to have them if you keep them in good standing

We do the same thing. We even put our daughter's college tuition on our cc. Instead of paying by the semester you can make monthly payments and we put it on our cc. We always pay it off in full every month. We get points and my husband gets a lot of free stuff from his favorite store. As long as you pay a cc off every month they can be very useful. It is when you keep charging and can't pay it off that people get in trouble.

Because if he defaults on the cc, then he keeps the motorhome.
If he defaults on a bank secured loan, they reposess the motorhome.
He may get a bad credit rating, but would get to keep his stuff.
Sad, but many people do just that.

Yeah, my dh's aunt and uncle had a large cc debt and filed bankrupty just on cc's. I think that is the biggest bunch of crap that people can do that and not have to give anything back:rolleyes: At least in a bankrupty you have to give stuff back. Don't get me wrong i understand some people can't help their financial situations. If you loose your job, health problems (i myself have some) or whatever. But if its just plain irresponsibitlity, the rest of us pay in the end when they raise prices from their losses, companies i mean.
