She is in labor.

I wish they would clean her stable. She messed awhile ago and won't lay in the only spot where the cam can see well.

Hubby said this can take all night and went to bed. Hump---men.

She isn't in labor yet. I posted earlier in the Kitty cam thread because I got a high alert e-mail that they only send out if an animal is actually in labor but it was for a mule that has already delivered. So I edited my post and deleted all my information. They cleaned her stall a few hours ago and put plastic up on the back wall. Here is the latest update from tonight.

Just FYI, Robin is a VERY quiet mare and last year didn't show real signs of disomfort. She laid down, got up, took a bite to eat, laid down again, stood up, and THERE WAS THE BABY!!!! She didn't show the typical signs. It might be different this year, as this is what they do. Every year can be differnt, or not. This is only the second baby I've had from Robin, so I wouldn't know if it's going to be the same this year as last. I do know that she wants this over with just as bad as you or I. I hope it is soon. At this point, it is completely up to nature, it's timing is perfect!!!

No one sent out an alert for her yet, she very well may be in labor though. I am watching it. I think what we 'may' be seeing when she raises her tail like that is possible gas lol I tried to put that as nice as I could ROFL

She has been doing that a lot for the past two days.... LOL but I hope she is in labor, poor thing wants this over with.

Oh well, guess I wouldn't know any different. Never actually saw a horse give birth. Hope she waits until tomorrow when more are online and can see it live. Thanks.

Needs to keep up her strength. Hope she gets some sleep. I see they shaved her tail. Didn't know they did that.

It's probably just braided. A horses tail is actually very short without hair on it.

Fred12 I've been watching this on an off since you posted about it earlier tonight. Seems she is swollen out more now. I could have swore I seen a leg sticking out earlier. LOL...guess it was just wishful thinking. :p

Thanks so much for the link to this. Our 8 yr old daughter is really into horses & has been glued to the computer screen watching this....LOL!

I think it's very cool. How many of us get to see a horse being born.

The mare's tail gets "wrapped" with a bandage whenever it is believed to be her due time. This keeps the tail from getting all "gunky" and also provides easier access in case the mare needs help.

She is pacing a lot this morning so maybe...or else she may be bored. Another sign you can watch for is if she starts kicking her belly or looking at her belly a lot. When she is close to the camera you can actually see a bit of the movement of her stomach. I was watching yesterday morning and it kept changing shapes...lol...the baby was moving.

I've been watching her all night she is definetly in labor and has been kicking, one time she almost fell down.

You can see clearly how her tail is wrapped in this picture. See how she is holding her tail? She is in pain.

Most of the time they go off feed when they are in labor. I read what the owner had to say about her eating and then laying down and having her baby. I hope this time is just as easy for her. I used to work on a breeding farm and it was always so cool to see the babies born or to see them right after they were born. Most of the time we could tell when we left for the day who foal overnight.

I can't get the web site today so far. BOOHOO

I saw where her tail was wrapped. Glad they don't shave it. It would take time to grow back.

Well, back to kitten watching.
