My cousin called me just now saying his 7yr old daughter is missing. She has been missing for 3 hours. No one knows where she is. She got out of school early today and no one has seen her since she got off the bus.

I was so much hoping that there would be an update this morning. I have been thinking and praying about this since I saw it posted last night.

You know, all of us in one form or another, take many things in our everyday life for granted. When something like this happens, it hits really close to home for all of us. Whether or not we want to believe it, all of us here are like a family of sorts. We share an interest in this board and many of us, off and on, spend a lot of time here.

I am making a solemn vow right now to make sure that I am more aware of everything that is going on around me and my child. My son (who is 9) will no longer get off the bus without me standing outside to see him off of it. I stand out with him in the mornings, but recently, I had been allowing him to get off the bus in front of the house and come in on his own...no longer will that happen.

This is a call to arms of all parents. Together, we have to take a stand and know that we have done everything possible to prevent even one more child from disappearing. Even one more is too expensive!

Dena, please let us know how things are going as soon as you can. There are so many of us who have been thinking of your little cousin. God bless your whole family.

Update:

Good news. She was found last night around 6:30. She had went down the street to a neighbors house. No one was at that house except for 3 children. Their parents has told them do not answer the door when they weren't home. So thats why we could not find her. The neighbors finally got home around 6:30 (when they got off work) and sent my cousin home. So she is safe. We were so worried though. Everyone thought someone had snatched her.

I'm sorry i did not update yall last night. I was just so stressed out. I went home crying and had to just hug on my kids and spend time with them.

I really appreciate everyones thoughts and prayers. This makes me realize how precious my kids are and that I should do more with them.

I am upset with my cousin though (the dad). He should have been home when his kids got off the bus instead of running around. His daughter is 7 and his son is 9. That is too young to be home alone. Even if he did get home 15 minutes after the bus dropped them off. Anything could have happened to his kids. I hope he wakes up and realizes what could have happened.

I do hope your cousin (the Dad) has learned a valuable lesson from this. As parents, we must not assume that any child that age will be okay at home by themselves for any length of time, especially the way the world is today.
