Glad you chose Atkins! It works! I'm back on it after having a baby and 14 days into it this time. I am down 14lbs! First time I lost 76lbs and went from a size 22 to an 8. Can't wait to get back into the 8s! lol!!

Good luck and pm me if you need any advice or support...and check out this site...TONS of recipes, support, advice, and fun!

Good luck!! I have been on this twice and it does for sure work, for me anyway! Just keep in mind you need to keep your cholesterol in check as well. I went on this the first time with my best friend and her cholesterol skyrocketed. For my body it was the answer for sure.

I am starting this tomorrow as well. My mom bought a great cookbook for me off of QVC. It is "500 Low-Carb Recipes" by Dana Carpender.

Just keep in mind your jumpstart is the most important. If you can stick to meat, egg, and cheese through that then you can start to incorporate other things.

Again, good luck!!

thanks guys for the sites... I am sure they will be helpful... I am a mom of 3 and have been struggling with my weight off and on since I have been young... I need all the support and information i can get... I would like to make out my menus for a week at a time on the induction part so it will be easier to stay with it but not sure of exactly how to go about doing it... I figured as far as the main dishes it wouldnt be to hard to figure out... (chicken, pork, hamburger and so on) but the sides is what I am really unsure about... I will have to do more thinking on it and figure it out and if anyone has any helpful inputs it would be greatly appreciated....thanks

As for sides that are induction legal....I went w/ green beans, sauerkraut, cabbage, and salads. There are alot more legal veggies, but I don't like them. Please check out that recipe site in my above post, you'll be so glad ya did. And at the website I posted for ya, there is a whole forum of tried and true recipes to try out also. Come on over there, I'm Shancopp there too. You can't use PM til you get a few posts under your belt. But, pm me here and let me know your name there and I'll say hey to ya!

I'm not overweight according to my BMI but I know I am not eating the right stuff.

I bought a book called Ultrametabolism and I am really impressed with it.

I would suggest before trying all these fad diets, you read this book (I got mine at Amazon).

It really makes you think!

I developed pancreatitis from eating Atkins. The md said the diet promoted way too much fat use. And btw, I read some of those recipes, & I have tried some of them too. And, there is just NO WAY cauliflower tastes like a potato, lol!

I've done the cauliflower thing on the guys at the station, and not ONE knew what it was. They all thought I had made "loaded" mashed potatoes.

If you do the recipe right, it does taste like whatever you want it to, because cauliflower is basically flavorless. As long as you drain it well, and pat dry with a towel..you could make it taste like anything.

Every doctor I've ever came into contact with, is supportive of atkins. If you read the book, do it right, it doesn't promote fatty foods. The book even says to use stuff like chicken, fish etc, and lean cuts of beef.

Good luck on your loss. When I was on it, I lost over 90 lbs total, my cholesterol dropped to healthy levels, my asthma got better, my blood sugar stayed at consistant levels, and my skin looked wonderful...and I was in better health than before.

Atkins is NOT a high fat diet! The fats allowed are natural fats...skin/fat on meat, REAL butter, REAL cream, REAL cheese, REAL mayo...not man made trans fats added to products today (margarine, imitation cheese, miracle whip) used to keep them shelf stable for 5 years! I'll take real, God made fats over that chemically altered crap anyday...and it tastes a heck of alot better. I'll take a diet where you can eat a big prime rib steak, salad with real blue cheese (no low fat junk here!), lobster dipped in real butter and still lose weight! :D
