i have to finally vent. I haven't been visiting this site as much lately as I found a forum that actually understands what the rule no reposts means. They understand that sometimes things do get reposted. But continue, they will give you a warning. It would take a lot for them to do it. Keep it up they eventually will kick you off the site. There are a few people here that would not last long there. this site is so well maintained I can not believe it. Loaded with freebies too. best site in a long long time. Actually almost reminds me of what BBS use to be. But with more freebies lol.
Since before the hacker took over this site it has been awful. Most of Us that have been around forever do searches to see if something is a repost. But omg there are the ones that just don't search. They searched and couldn't find it? It's on the same dang page 2 or 3 items down. Or you have someone that posts needless things. You get this free if you do this offer crap.
This is just driving me out of my mind. Heck the rules of conduct haven't worked for months. I contacted one of the mods a couple months back, and she told me yeah she knew, and would have someone look into it. Ummm it still doesnt work.
Not sure how many of the mods even hang out here anymore. Not many if any I can tell you that, because they took better care of this site for the reposts. They will show up if there is a mod alert to take care of that certain post. The rules always worked. If something didn't they would make sure to get it working. I mean, umm, aren't the rules of conduct important?
Alex is never here anymore. I understand that he has many ventures going on but he was here a at least a little bit before. he posted about the free advertising the other day. First time I have seen him in months.
Sad to say after 6 years, it is almost a waste of time coming here. Everytime i do it upsets me that it has gone to hell here.
Thank you for letting me get this off my chest.

I have a question - since you have complained about this very topic a time or two; Is your life so boring all you have to complain about are reposts on a website out in cyberspace? Surely you have a life outside of your computer.
I sat here reading your complaint and thought, "Damn, I wish my life was so worry free all I had to complain about is meaningless crap." Don't get me wrong, you have a right to vent about your meaningless complains, that matters has much as a fly smashed on a windsheild... Then again, a fly smashed on a windsheild might matter to some.

Hmm seems to me if you think that my complaint is meaningless, didn't you just do what you accuse me of doing?
Is your life so boring that you have to sit here and complain about someone elses post that you think is meaningless? Makes no sense to me.

Just seems to me that there's a simple solution to your problem...stay at the other site that doesn't have reposts. :p

sooooo why don't you report the post as a repost so its removed?? There haven't been ANY reported posts in a long time.
People complain ALL the time about reposts, but they never report them, and then they come here and complain.
There are mods here everyday.... I know I am here off and on most days, but I don't have the time to weed through every post in every forum. I don't come here just when there is an alert... if I waited for an alert to come here, I'd NEVER be here
As far as the rules of conduct goes... only Alex can fix them. I told him several weeks ago, but I don't feel the need to continually remind him, hes a big boy and when he gets areound to fixing it, it will be fixed.
Any forum (including this one) is only as good as its members want it to be. If you want something fixed, report it. I am not a babysitter and I don't have the time to read every post everyday, nor do any of the other mods.
Either do something about it or move on.

Couldn't this be considered a REPOST? People complain about this all time, this isnt the first time its been posted.
So what theres a repost, look over it and not click on it and get all bothered about it.

I personally am thankful fo rreposts. Sometimes I tend to miss things like those great deals. A repost gives me another chance. This forum is a great place to get great deals and or freebies. I am thankful I have missed. :)
P.S.
Isn't this complaint a repost?? I think you may have posted it before.

Buttrfli, can I report this post? It's a repost! :D
Seriously, reposts don't really bother me. If a post does happen to bug me, I'll report it, so something can get done about it. Not a big deal to me.

OMG! GET A FREAKING LIFE! So the heck what if there are reposts? Does it do some sort of damage to your life if there is? Just act like a freaking adult and skip over it instead of nitpicking like a whiney Jr. High baby! Maybe you should just stay at your other site and leave BBS for good. Some of us do not have the chance to come here everyday and I myself do not mind the reposts as it may be for something really great that I missed out on the first time, so I would like to say THANKS for the reposts incase I missed something good.
Also everyone is right, this thread is a REPOST as this subject has been posted about before! BUT....this is vent/whine so post away!

i don't mind them either, just in case you missed something - the only ones that really get me going are "can you tell me where a pcone banner is???" ugh!! I hate them!

Do you realize that some people are not that computer literate? They are lucky enough to know how to turn on their computer and surf the net. Why are you complaining about someone trying to do something "nice"? I know a lot of times I do a search and it comes back telling me that nothing was found. If someone doesn't scroll down and manually search for a post then they have no way of knowing that it is already there.
In my opinion, I appreciate everyone posting the freebies and deals. I know I am one that is too lazy to go searching page 2 for freebies, I just check the first page.

I've been guilty several times of a repost. However, I missed it the first time it was posted....that's why I posted it again. I couldn't find it here. It was posted way back when.
I have received a lot of great freebies, surveys, trials due to repost. However, if there's a repost and I know I've seen it before I skip over it. We're not infallible here, only human.
True, sometimes I get tired of seeing the same thing over and over but it's the choice of the poster...not mine.
I understand this is v/w forum but this has been posted before. Frankly, I'm tired of this being a repost by different posters.
Why do we all (if not most) belong to other boards??? Go there if you wish not to see a repost. Then again, when I go to other boards I see the same posts there, too. It's been copied/pasted.

I'm just in amazement at the things people have to whine and vent
about...All of the things that go on and someone is complaining about
a repost.
Hmmm, I have to concur with the rest. This is meaningless crap that
perhaps in a moment of PMS splendor you posted in haste.
If people repost it's not because they even realize they've reposted
and perhaps they are new enough they didn't even realize to check for
reposts. Stop, evaluate yourself and see if there isn't one little thing at
all in your life you can look at that you need to whine or vent about that
you can post about besides trivial, petty, mindless crap. Please next time
make it meaningful. At least a little bit?
Oh! My dog crapped in my yard today! I think that has more merit
than what you've posted. Again, if it's a PMS thing, we all can relate.
just think about it next time.

Reposts are reposts.....been there, done that, will see it again and again and again. It's truly NO BIG DEAL. Skip over them.
I can find other things to v/w about far more important than a repost!!!!
Sorry, it's just trivial.

You do realize that the search feature does not work very well. Also people label posts differently and this does not help the situation.
Sorry it gets your panties in a bunch!

Reposts have always been a problem here it's just part of bbs. I don't blame the posters, the search function sucks and it's easy to miss something that has been posted before. In my opinion the mods should take care of the reposts and try to keep the forums from being so cluttered, isn't that part of the job? If the people running this forum cared about it at all it might be a more pleasant place to visit, but then it wouldn't be bbs, lol

Oh please.. do you come here and read every single post in every single thread every day? I didn't think so. Because if you did, you would have seen my first comment on this subject:

If this was a "job" we would be getting paid, which we don't.
A board is only as good as its members and mods aren't babysitters.

Well I agree to an extent, it's the members that make a forum, but it's up to the mods and admin to take care of it.
No the mods aren't babysitters, but the members aren't babies either.

Well since there are no set rules as far as reposts go, its not a huge priority with any mod to spend half a day going through all the posts and cleaning them up. It does get done, allbeit not as often as members think it should be, but it does get done.
The majority of the members don't care if something is a repost. There is no trophy given out for being the first person to post a freebie and I don't understand why it upsets people so much.
A lot of members never even see the first post but do see a repost and are able to get in on the deal and are greatful. I don't see anything wrong with it. I have seen someone post a freebie only to be bashed that it was a repost, then the 1st post will be bumped up and it was from weeks or months ago... who really goes back that far in the freebie section unless they are looking for something specific?
If I spent every single second of my time here in the freebie section, I might catch more reposts, but since I enjoy visiting other parts of the board, I don't just "hang out" in the freebie thread.
I am sorry that reposts bother people so much, but they are going to happen.
Now.. that being said, I will say that the "report post" feature does not seem to work. I tried it earlier and never received a notice. Since this topic has been a hot button for a few people and we all just want to get along, I am going to put a "Repost" sticky thread in the freebie forum. Then if there is a repost that a mod has not noticed, someone can post the link to it and it can be taken care of. I'll check it myself each time I come here.

Well, Here's my two cents worth....
I don't have a computer of my own, I have to wait until I visit my mother to get on this site. Recently I posted a repost. I did do a search but I later found out that it was under a different name. I did apologize. Since I can't be on the computer daily I am grateful for some of the repost. The ones I don't care about I just don't click on them. I am grateful for this site. It's been a big help and lots of enjoyment to me.
I think the moderators are doing a great job.
Sorry if this is a repost. He! He! He!

we should be allowed to delete our own post if we accidently repost something...That would be an easy solution..lol Then this wouldnt be a topic in Vent and whine any longer.....lol

For one, I am glad there are reposts.
For two, the mods shouldn't have to worry about something so trivial as an offer posted twice.
For three, anyone who has a problem with reposts - well it's their problem.
I have been coming to BBS for a good while now and I do not think I have seen one repost of an offer that lead me to believe the poster was doing it to try and hurt the original poster. Although I have seen original poster bump up a post 6 months old that made me think they wanted to show "See this is the original post and I was the original poster.
Then there's the new freebie lover who has found a great freebie and posts it. There will be something typed in the post how that person wants to give back because they have benefited from all the other posts. Then there will be a shame on you for reposting reply to the post dashing the excitement of the new person, making them feel bad. I hate that.
The post is already posted, why make someone feel bad about it?
