Just because I talk to someone here, does not mean I know everything about them. Nor does it mean I am guilty of anything so don't insinuate that I am. I don't know how you got my real name and my address. You are violating my privacy and if you show up at my door again or contact me in anyway, I will call the police. :mad:

Long story short, a person claiming to be a private detective showed up here asking questions about someone here that I occassionally talk to through email. I had an opportunity to meet this person once and posted I had met her. He had a copy of this post I made. I am totally creeped out that this person can ID me by a post made here. He claims he "needed to verify I was a real person." The impression he gave me was because I was an acquaintance of this person, I must be up to no good. Obviously this "detective" or his associates have nothing better to do than come here and read our posts and try to read something bad into them. I was even questioned as to "exactly what kind of website this is." Obviously a bunch of women (and a few men) coming here to chit chat and exchange links for freebies and deals are up to no good. :mad:

Might have been one of those investigators that are looking for people who are committing disability fraud.

I know one of our local guys was really hurt badly and was getting lots of money and they came out here and liked to have worried the soup out of everyone. He was following the guy who was hurt all the time, and asking everyone questions. This went on for months. It's pathetic when someone really does work hard all their lives and needs money they are entitled to when they have been hurt beyond repair doing that job and then they are made to feel like a bum. And yes I know there are lots of people out there that really are faking it, but dang,...after the whole town tells you to back off the guy is telling the truth, they should back off and go try to catch the real cons.

Actually it's a domestic case. He showed me pictures of this person's husband and child who I have never seen before. He acted like I was lying when I said I didn't know who they were.

I think i seen someone dressed up as a pink dinosaur a few mins ago in the free underware from hanes post........i think we might have to investigate. I took the liberty of calling the hanes sock detectives.....they always know what isn't right in the underware department..hopefully we will get a report soon..

Sounds to me there is more then meets the eye on this one I am not sure how he can get your name ect from this board. I know you said you talked to latestdish almost everyday and you met her and you live 20 minutes away from her maybe this person was watching you and maybe she is in some kind of trouble you dont know about some kind of fraud.

It wasnt right that he showed up at your door but it shows how careful you have to be about the net and the people you met

Today when I got home, there was a message on my answering machine. It was from a lady saying she was her ex'es lawyer. She said she was the one who sent the investigator and gave his name. That's more than I had before. She said it was important that she talk to me. I tried calling her back but she was in court. I left a message telling her not to contact me again. I met this person only one time. That doesn't mean I know everything about her.

You may want to voluntarily talk to the lawyer. You may know more than you think.
If you're unwilling to talk, you could be forced to go to court (subpoena) regardless of what you know (or don't know).

If you really believe you have no info for the lawyer, let her interview you and find that out for herself. At least this way, she can determine this at a time that's Ok with you and not a time that's Ok with the courts.

I originally started this thread to tell the people who are harassing me to stop it. Obviously if they have a copy of something I posted here, they are lurking here. Then people wanted to know what the person in question did. Right now I don't know what to think. People are telling me this person is not what she appears to be. On one hand, I want to believe this person was telling the truth. But on the other hand, I don't know what to think.

I guess its just me, but if someone comes to my door wanting to talk about someone from the BBS, I'd be hunting down the person who gave out my private information.

They aren't forcing you to talk to them, so if you don't want to, then don't! Its very easy to not answer your door or hang up on people. If you don't know the person they are questioning you about very well, then I can't really see why you'd talk to someone about her or even listen to what they have to say and get yourself involved.

As far as starting the thread to tell the people who are harrasing you to stop it, you should tell them that when they come to your door or call you on the phone... it dosen't bug me that you posted it here, but I seriously doubt the post had much affect on the harraser.

You can refuse to answer questions. I would report the fruit to the police department.

This is why I refuse to socialize with people from the net. A bunch of freaks out there.

When I answered my door, I had no idea the person was an investigator. He starts showing me pictures of people I've never seen before and acts like I'm lying when I say I don't know who they are. I called the attorney back to tell her I didn't want her bothering me and there is no reason to involve me in this. The investigator wasn't going to leave without answers. After I went in the house and locked the door, he was still standing there.

I wasn't socializing with her when I met her. We both worked together on a merchandising job with about 8 or 9 other people.

I think that there is a lesson to be learned here. There are a lot of very nice people on here and I am sure that the majority are wonderul people. But I am also sure that there are a handful of not so wonderful people. And it seems the bad ones are always very good at manipulating people into thinking that they are good.
Also...maybe the person in question here is the innocent one and is trying to be tracked down by someone not so innocent. Nobody really knows the whole story....
I would be very careful answering any questions! You certainly wouldn't want to be pulled into a messy situation! Good luck getting rid of your harrasser!

The only way we knew about the faked death (at the board I used to be on)was that a friend "told on" her, and then she confessed it.

No, I kind of have to agree with Taterbo on this one. There was another thread just a couple of days ago, some member was telling another member that they had their address and well it was C-R-E-E-P-Y to say the least. The member kept telling the other person "well my daughter traded with you and thats how I have your address" well in a case like that, who knows what the truth is.

Now im kind of creeped out by this :stunned
