Thats an awesome site. Wisconsin isn't listed as a state that is included yet. But hopefully they will be soon. There is a different website for Wisconsin sex offenders too but it doesn't show addresses...just counties they live in. But it has 1st and last names and alias' and also pictures. It's awesome that people can be informed about these things to help protect their children! Thanks for posting!!!

we found out about a guy that lives down the street from us, so we printed out about 30 flyers and handed them out to all the houses around my block, sad thing is....theres a playground less then 100 yards from where the sicko lives. Its shocking that these people can just live wherever....

Thank you so very much for posting this. How do you go about finding more up to date information on sex offenders in your area? I found out that there is a sex offender about 3 blocks from my house and I've seen this man out walking at 4:30 in the morning. My husband and I get up early, he has to be at work early and so do I. I was going to go walking this morning but hubby's at work, it's too early, and now I know what my husband and parents have been saying is true, "You never know who is out and walking. So don't go out there by yourself!" Stay safe all!!

Thank you so much OP. We just moved at the beginning of the school year to a new (better)part of town and I hadn't checked the usual sites out yet. I just discover one of my 6 yr old daughter's friends dads is listed for a conviction for an incident with a 13 yr old girl. He is still on probation till 2007 for it. There is also another offender within 1000 feet of the school.

Your welcome all. I wish my own state was listed but suppose to be soon. I looked up my sons address and found out there's one just down the street from him and I have a 18 mo granddaughter. My daughter in law is also printing and giving flyers to all her neighbors. I'm not sure how to find out any more info but try your local police or nres media. We all need to know everything we can about these people

I have used this website in the past and have found that I have four felons that have committed sexual crimes against children within a couple of blocks of my home. That is pretty scary.

Please tell your daughter in law to be careful handing out flyers. Yes I agree we should stand up to people that commit crimes, but just be safe about how you do it. Especially if she has a little one!

How do you get that info for free? It asked for my zip and e-mail then when I clicked to perform search, it said 72 in my area but then, I got: Get the complete report including map, photograph, and addresses to find out who they are and where they live. You will be able to enter your full address and specify a larger radius.

Then it asks for my information (name, address, etc) then a spot for billing information : Billing Information
By submitting this information you agree to a one time charge of $10.00. Terms and Conditions.

This site is free also and I believe more updated.

Also Some of these offenders may not be rapist and what not, some of them could be 18 year old boys that dated 15 year old girls. It's illegal and gets them on the list even if it was totally consentual. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying it's ok, I'm just saying some of them may not be quite as scary as some of you think, but then again, how do you know which is which.

This is a really good site. I found 47 child sex offenders in my area. One lives just a block away and I see him almost every day. I have two children a 13 year old girl and a 12 year old boy. I am going to show them his picture and tell them the general area of where he lives so that they stay away from him. He always seemed like a nice guy too. He always says hi to me and my children. It is okay for my children and I to say hi to him and to be cordial to him but we all need to not be alone with him ever. I don't think that would ever happen anyway but my kids go for walks by themselves around the block. Now I am going to make them take those walks together. They will use the buddy system now. I have noticed that Oregon is not a participating state yet. They should be by July 1 2006 though. At least that is according to the message that I got when I typed it in. I was checking to see if someone that I know is a sex offender was in the system. This guy is my nephew in law who is never allowed to be around anyone in the family. Not because he did anything to a family member but because of what he has done period. If he would own up to what he did and take responcibility for his actions and do everything that the courts have ordered him to do then he would be allowed to be around the family but never alone with any of us.

Thank you for that link

My grandfather spent 8 years in prison for this. This was back in the 80's. Released in 1988. He was put on parole for 12 years....2000. He then was put on the registry. However, before he was there was a hearing to see if he posed any danger to anyone. His "accusers" showed up as well and recanted every lie, story they'd told years before with proof that nothing ever happened. In short they were skipping school and hanging out in the neighborhood and made up a story for their parents.

My grandfather is forever on the registry. They will not take him off. There's no court here in TX. that will listen/hear the new story. These boys are now men and have families, have no remorse or anything. Their parents told them it was the right thing to tell the truth....all those years later.

Also my grandfather has gone thru extensive therapy, group sessions, paid out of his pocket for it all.....letters have been written on his behalf stating he's innocent and he poses NO THREAT TO ANYONE.

For the rest of his life he'll be on the registry and have to pay for it...it's around $35.00 a month for a crime he didn't commit.

I'm NOT saying everyone is innocent but there are circumstances that pose more of a threat to a person's livelyhood.

I'm done.

Don't get me wrong I'm not saying it's ok, I'm just saying some of them may not be quite as scary as some of you think, but then again, how do you know which is which.

Most states have a 5 year law that prevents that. For example it's legal for a an 18 year old to date a 15 year old but NOT a 13 year old as they've reached the 5 year cut off mark. States that don't have that law should, it'd be pretty ridiculous to be Junior or Senior dating a Freshman and then when you turn 18 it's all of a sudden a crime.

How's this for a story? My neighbor came over one day to let us know that he had to register as a sex offender. He told us he was 19 at the time and at a college party. He said he slept with a 15 year old while intoxicated but it was consensual. He went on to state that he had found the Lord and he knew it was wrong and wasn't like that anymore and yada yada. He said he got 6 months probation and that was the end of it.

First off I was skeptical of that story because of the 5 year law we have in Maine. I was right to be skeptical. The police did their duty and passed out fliers with the info of the case. He spent 5 YEARS in prison for the forceful rape of a 13 year old. I am in no way belittling statutory rape, but forceful rape is even worse.

Then he had the nerve to again go door to door handing out letters trying to explain himself.

BTW, this was 19 years ago and they just got him on the registry a few months ago. You never know who your neighbors really are.

Gah. He lives diagonally across the street from us. That's scary.

I dont understand what all the hysteria is about. Why are sex-offenders being treated worse than some murderers? All those guys that live all around you are NOT child molesters. Its like what has been mentioned some of them were just young men who made a mistake with a younger girl. Some are men who went to the bathroom outdoors and get charged with indecent exposure. There are a lot of sex crimes that have NO VICTIM! Some have a fetish for pornography. all disgusting in my eyes but not someone to be afraid of. A large number of them are not out looking for a kid or girl. Look at all the sex offenders we have in schools, churches, youth groups, government. How do we protect against these? The law has gone too far . Its like the Salem witch hunts of years ago. Point out someone and label them a pervert and lets all hang them. Yes, I have a loved one who is considered by law a sex offender and he was 19 and the girl was 14. He was wrong. Shouldnt have even had sex at all !! But he did NOT force her. He served his time and now they act like he is a danger to his own newborn son and the whole world. Cant go to parks, schools, library etc. They are lumping them all together and its not right. OK.... I will get down from my soap box now. Thank you for your time if you read this.

why does it say you have to pay?

The State (Texas anyway) considers it another form of "punishment". If you don't pay monthly they have the legal right to throw you back in prison. They also can come to your home at anytime (unexpected), follow you, if you don't show up monthly or when scheduled they can put you away.

About 2 years ago my grandfather was hospitalized for eye surgery. I called these people and told them where he was at. He missed his appt. due to being in the hospital. They came and handcuffed him to his hospital bed and had a guard outside his door 24/7 for the 2 days he was hospitalized.

By the way once on the list your there forever you will always be classified as an offender no matter how much cleaning up has been done

You don't go to jail for looking at legal porn and I don't know of any state that would make you register for peeing outdoors unless you did it in front of people on purpose and even that would be a stretch. The majority of these offenders do not fall into the category being falsely convicted (although I do feel for those who have had to undergo the stigma of that label when they're innocent, our legal system needs tweaking.)

However, a 14 year old cannot give consent, ever. Not "forcing" her isn't even an option because she is unable to say "yes." Most of the sites let you look at the charges so you can decide for yourself if you want to associate with the person or not.

I don't agree with starting lynch mobs or passing out fliers with people's names on them. A better option would be to pass out a flier with the web address of the sex offender's site so people can look for themselves. This would also limit any retaliation from the offender on the person who's trying to inform the public. You can also request the police do a notification and stay out of it all together.

I'm a little conflicted. On the one hand some people can be rehabilitated and well, these people have to live somewhere. They can't be forced from every home they try to live in. They do have the right to try and move on after their punishment. On the other hand, I have 2 older step-daughters and a 5 year old at home and I want to know whose in my neighborhood.

Also a point to keep in mind, a LOT of child molesters and sex offenders are never caught and are not on the registry. The majority of sex offenders abuse people they know, not strangers. I'm more worried about the people I allow my kids to visit with than the ones I'll never meet. Of course we frequently have the stranger conversation but we also have the conversations about appropriate touching and to ALWAYS tell no matter what. We talk about the lies people tell and not to believe them if they say she'll get in trouble for telling or threaten her. We'll protect her. Is it graphic for a 5 year old? Maybe, but it's already paid off. A child in her class touched her genitals and she told the teacher immediately.

The most important thing is to talk to your kids before anything happens and to use the right terms for their body. I'd hate to think if that'd happened and she used some cutesy term and the teacher thought the kid had taken a stuffed animal or something. Leave no room for confusion.

I can't agree with you more Sandra....My husband is in this same position. I want to know why the GIRL was not held responsible in some way, shape, or form for LYING about her age? I just don't understand people sometimes....I could go on and on about this, but everyone needs to stop judging for a minute and put yourself in my and other peoples shoes who are in this same situation. This could happen to your son, brother, uncle, nephew....how would you feel about it then? Don't judge and most certainly don't comment on something until you have the WHOLE true story.....

Thank you ShanBan . Now I dont feel like the lone Ranger.

You don't go to jail for looking at legal porn? Where did I say it was legal? Sex offenders are under a broad hat of offenses. I am not making this up. Did you know the law is wanting to add consensual sex between both underage children to be illegal and jail them both!!! I was not in any means excusing the offense my loved one made. I only meant to explain he is not a danger in going after anyones child. He should not have been having sex period. BUT he did and now he is paying for it by having to register as a sex offender and all the prohibitions that it entails. That is what makes me so upset. You may think a 14 yr old is too young to consent. Sure that is how the law looks at it. But what if it were a 14 yrs old boy and the girl was 19? I know a couple that the woman was 19 and still a virgin until she met the wordly wise 14 yrs old and they ended up married for 10 years. Should she have been arrested as a child molester? They both thought it was love. Things can be wrong without being a crime. Dont u think? The girl my loved one was convicted for even called my loved one and apoligized to him. VICTIM?????

I just had to get back up on the soap box .

I haven't been to this site in a while but my daughter was home sick today and I decided to check it out again.

When I saw this post about the sex offender website I decided to check it out and figured I would see a few offenders in my area but was positive I wouldn't know any of them.

Turns out the father of the little girl my child just spent the weekend with is a convicted rapist. The familywatchdog website didn't give alot of details about the crime but I found a community information website for my state and from what I can determine he was 24 at the time and the victim was 15. It says he was convicted of 2nd degree rape...I don't even know what that means.

I am literaly sick at my stomach, and I don't know what to do with this information. I'm grateful for it...but what do I do now? How do I keep my child safe and not embarass or alienate he best friend? Obviously I wouldn't feel comfortable letting her go over there again....she is only 10 years old.

Sorry to be so long winded, and thank you again for opening my eyes to the fact that I don't know anyone as well as I thought.

It could have been he got caught having sex with his underage *girlfriend* or something worse...

***There is no statutory rape clause in Alabama. In Alabama, the legal age of consent is 16. If the person is under the age of 16, it is automatically considered Rape in the 2nd degree, no matter if it was consentual or not***

I would talk to your friend, don't worry about embarrassing anybody, get the facts and then make a decision

we found out about a guy that lives down the street from us, so we printed out about 30 flyers and handed them out to all the houses around my block, sad thing is....theres a playground less then 100 yards from where the sicko lives. Its shocking that these people can just live wherever....

I'm lucky that the area where I live doesn't have many sex offenders. Though, I checked my parent's town and there are tons of red square sex offenders living very close to schools. There needs to be regulations against people who have been convicted of crimes against children living near elementary schools. I wouldn't want my kids going to a school with sex offenders living all around it. Something needs to be done in my opinion.
