 I was walking in my neighborhood and was doing just fine until this woman came up to me and told me I was on a private road and that my dogs were not to be up there!?????????!!!!!! NOT A PRIVATE ROAD!!! my dogs were not bothering her!! they were walking around and drinking out of the mud puddles! She was in my face and telling me that my dogs cost her $600. her dog evidently jumped the fence and my dogs got her. She said she told my husband about it.......we never heard anything about $600. HELLO!!! my dogs protect my kids, but have never bitten anyone. They didn't even bark at this woman.......what is her problem??? grouchy old woman! My blood pressure was sky high.....I was ready to punch her.......am I wrong?? I told her I wasn't trying to cause any trouble, but she was telling me I was causing trouble by just being back there.......
any thoughts?

some people have nothing better to do. my little opinion "if I was jumped by two dogs that did enough damage to my person to cost $600 I wouldn't be approaching them". And obviously, if she was supposedly attacked by a dog (s) wouldn't she have called the authorities?

ITA with the above poster. Also if someones dogs cost me $600 of my money you can bet I would be notifying them for reimbursement or it's Judge Judy here we come! LOL! :)
Sorry she was so nasty to you

ITA!!!! Sounds like she is just an old biddy that isn't happy unless she is causing trouble. Just to be on the side of caution though, if you take the dogs back there again, I would make sure they are on a leash. That way, if she calls the authorities on you at least you have done your part (in case your town has leash laws). Also, if she doesn't have "no tresspassing" signs up, I would say that the road is fair game for the dogs to play!
What kind of dogs do you have? That could play a part in the way she is acting. I had 2 full grown dobermans in my house for a year and half before my trouble making neighbors knew about them. Guess what? As soon as she found out, the dogs started causing her all kinds of trouble. So, in a way I understand what you are going through.
Give the doggies a treat for being GOOD!!!! :D

It does sound like the lady is off her rocker but were your dogs on a leash? I know here in Mass we have a leash law. If the dog officer sees dogs roaming around loose they can pick them up. Even if a dog is trained to stay by it's owner they still aren't supposed to be loose when out walking. Unless you keep them on your own property they have to be on a leash at all times.

I believe she's saying her dogs attacked the lady's dog not the lady.

As long as your dogs are leashed and you're on a public road, I don't see any problem. If it's a private road, however, it should be marked so.
