(so much for a traditional wedding- wonder how preggo she will be by the time they marry? Was she preggo when he asked her? usually they do not announce a pregnancy until several months in)

Katie Holmes: Call Me Mrs. Kate Cruise?
By Jill Atkins http://www.nationalledger.com/artman/publish/article_2726646.shtml
Sep 9, 2005

Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise are set to tie the knot sometime later this year. The couple, after a very public romance and engagement has been out of the public eye for several months, but a report fro the tabloid 'In Touch' runs an item that hints at a name change for Katie Holmes.

The report, according to IMDb:

Batman Begins actress Katie Holmes is planning to do what neither of Tom Cruise's past two wives did when she weds the movie star - take his name.

The tradition-loving actress plans to deviate from Nicole Kidman and Mimi Roger's example and go by the name of Kate Cruise, both personally and professionally, when she exchanges vows with her fiancée, according to American magazine In Touch.

A source tells the publication: "Tom calls her Kate, so he suggested she start going by that professionally." The surname change is something old-fashioned Holmes has always been keen on.

Katie Holmes: call me 'Mrs. Kate Cruise.'

Kate Cruise does sound a bit more serious than Katie Holmes. The gorgeous actress, no matter what name she goes by is 26 years old.

--Jill Atkins writes from Hollywood

ok - she is way too besotten or star -cowed - she has her own career under her own name or is she giving this up too. Sorry, but I do not see this one lasting either.

She used to be my favorite actress -- I was totally in love w/ her (some girls fantasize about Tom Cruise -- I fantasized about Katie Holmes)... now I am disgusted. I hate Scientology, everything it represents and by default, the ppl who follow this cult... I no longer respect her for allowing him to dictate her life and what she should believe... including his "religion".

Sad thing is, LOL, she won't be taking his last name if she is "Cruise" She will be taking his middle name. Tom's real name is: Thomas Cruise Mapother IV

Just read that before he met up with Holmes, he said he wanted to marry again, and have kids of his "own" - (his two kids with Nicole Kidman were adopted)

update:re: ".... Tom's real name is: Thomas Cruise Mapother IV "

Who knows - He may have legally changed it - that was his birth name it says

I think it's sad that she is basically giving up her identity for him.
She has joined Scientology for him, she'll go by Kate because that's what HE calls her and changing her last name to HIS which most stars don't do.

I think if they are happy then good for them. They both sure seem to be happy right now. It's not like hollywood won't handle another divorce if it doesn't work out. As for him swaying her to scientology, although I don't believe what they do, she is an adult and fully capable of making her own decisions. :D

When I first read about them dating, I was seriously hoping that it's just a publicity stunt or a career advancement. I loved Holmes too, and I hope she rips him to pieces.

Sounds like you are just jealous she isn't with you!

Seriously, come on...Maybe she believes what he says! I personally, don't care what either of them believe. THey are celebrities. So what if they believe in what they believe in. You, yourself, state "I hate scientology"....have you given it a try? Hating something just because of principle will never help the human race advance.

Have you ever done any research into Scientology? I don't hate it on principle, I hate it because of the things it is responsible for and I am disgusted that she would associate herself w/ such an organization.

Check out this page: http://www.lisamcpherson.org/

Then do a search for Scientology related deaths on google. When you have done your research then you can criticize me for how I feel. Until then, don't assume you know I hate something "just because."

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes Expecting

Oct 5, 5:53 PM (ET)

NEW YORK (AP) - Let the couch-jumping begin: Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are expecting a baby. Holmes' pregnancy was reported Wednesday by People magazine. The couple have been dating since April and became engaged in June.

"Tom and Katie are very excited, and the entire family is very excited," Lee Anne DeVette, Cruise's spokeswoman, told People.

It would be Holmes' first child. Cruise has two children, Connor, 10, and Isabella, 12, from his marriage to Nicole Kidman.

No further details were available. Devette added that Holmes, 26, "has never felt better."

Cruise, 43, is now shooting "Mission" Impossible 3."

I am only quoting you...perhaps you should have been more specific.

Sorry, but I don't hate "Tribal life" in africa because they are living a more "primitive" lifestyle. Christianity is not always the way to go...and I am SURE that all scientologists are not like that link you sent me. That is rediculous and judgemental.

Then I again, must say, please do some research. I never said Christianity is always the way to go (I DO believe that, though), I could care less what anyone believes. I don't even care what Scientologists believe. What I DO care about is that ppl DIE because of this organization -- and if ppl dying due to ANY belief system doesn't upset ppl... then what will?

And btw, since you are "only quoting me" -- where did I say I hated it "just because" -- and when did I bring up any of the other stuff you are trying to compare my non existent words to?

Many religions have had people die "just because"....look at the crusades, look at Christian scientists, look at the amish, look at muslim factions.

Sorry, but the word hate, to me, is a very strong one.

I am done with this conversation.

Wow I couldn't imagine changing my name and my beliefs along w/ my life b/c some man told me to hehe he'd be quite surprised where my foot ended up after he told me how I was going to live. ;) :p

I am so glad I'm not in their shoes. :)

Ok, where did I say ppl died "just because" -- why do you keep putting words in my mouth? Had you read the link you would know full well that the woman was going through a psychotic break and they were trying to cure her w/ mashed bananas and vitamins. Her autopsy photos also show massive bite marks from ROACHES. This is NOT "just because". This (and many others who Scientologists have tried to "cure" in this fashion) was a preventable death! I NEVER said a word about anyone dying "just because". And since I am sure you will next say that many religions refuse medical attention... she was trying to GET OUT of Scientology but she was not mentally aware of what was going on to tell her doctors not to release her to them!

I guess I'm the only one here who actually likes Tom Cruise. ;)

I don't know alot about Scientology, but I have read about their birthing method and how you are supposed to remain quiet around the infant for a period of time. I do know this is unhealthy for a baby because they depend on early parental interaction to learn and build a secure attachment.

She also can't scream when she's having labor pains. The doctrine also states that the newborns cannot be poked or prodded for medical tests. This is crazy, because how will the doctors determine that the baby is healthy.

Regarding Scientology, I was reading that they believe in Xenu. "In the materials for OT III (Operating Thetan level 3), L. Ron Hubbard writes that, 75 million years ago, the head of the Galactic Federation, made up of 76 planets, was a being named Xenu. Faced with an overpopulation problem, he brought beings to this planet, blew them up with hydrogen bombs, and packaged them. Their spirits now infest our bodies: he says "One's body is a mass of individual thetans stuck to oneself or to the body." Scientologists at this level try to rid themselves of these thetans (spirits) by helping each one to remember the painful experiences of being blown up like that." You can read more about Xenu here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xenu

The things that people will believe in nowadays! I may not agree with what Tom Cruise believes in, but I still think that he is a really good actor.

From press reports, she must have gotten pregnant a month after they started dating, well before he proposed to her. Neither of those two facts, plus the age difference, bodes well for any long term relationship.

I dont either. I think he's gay :D How right you are. When he was married to Mimi Rogers it was because Tom was involved with Mimi's brother. Tom and Nicloe were married 10 years. She signed a contract to stay with him for 10 years, adopt 2 children and she would get starring roles in good movies. On the day the 10 year contract was up was when they announced they were breaking up. Tom was caught in bed with Rob Thomas, matchbox 20 or 26, sorry can't remember the name of the group. Rob's wife walked in on them. She was paid a small fortune and signed a contract to never talk about it. So Tom's people came up with a list of young women to try and find one he could marry. I guess Katie was the only one who would take the deal. So, she signed a contract for x amount of years , was promised her movie parts would get better, and she would make lot's of money. She did go to a fertility clinic . Now don't get me wrong, I don't care if someone is gay, infact my brother-in-law is gay and so is one of my good friends here on the island. People are just people. Now if someone is just mean and rotten then I have a problem with that.

Where'd you get all this information? I'm not saying it's not true but I've certainly not seen anything about any of this... not even in the really horrible tabloids.

I got the info from one of my gay friends. I believe what he says because he has told me lot's of stuff about other stars and it all happened just like he said it would. I have learned a lot from him. I found out about a lot of gay men that NO ONE would ever think or believe that they are gay. Hope this answers you're question :)

She was engaged to Chris Kline for 5 years and was supposedly still a virgin. She used to talk about saving herself for marriage. To suddenly get with Tom and get pregnant, while not married, does not sound like her at all.

You know what is sad to me, I have never been "Obsessed" by a star....having posters on the wall etc., thinking I would "marry" them. Sounds like an infatuation rather than a relationship to me. Honestly, I don't care what either one of them do with the way that they live..... I just think it is sad, in general, to base an infatuation on the physical attractiveness of someone as the basis of your "love". Celebrity or no....
