People do not take responsibility for their own health. Some think that the doctor is some sort of pill god and there is a pill to cure everything. Some people are just lazy and don't want to give up their pleasures. Some people want a pill because that's why they go to the doctor.

And people do not read the advisory information that they get when they are dispensed or they use several different pharmacies to fill their prescriptions. Your doctor is not a medication professional, that's your pharmacist. If you use the same pharmacist for all of your medications, and your pharmacist has any smarts, they get warning messages when there are contraindications for medications and they also get warnings for over dosages, and allergies. By using the same pharmacy and the same pharmacist they can work with your doctor to prevent some of these overmedications as well as medications that interfere with other medications.

I honestly believe that most people don't take responsibility for their health. Which is too bad. Not only does the doctor have to ask questions but the patient has to be honest when they are dealing with their doctor. If you smoke, then tell them. If you drink 6 beers a night, that could be essential information for your doctor to know so if he asks if you drink alcoholic beverages, don't deny it.

Health care goes both ways.

I totally agree, IF I have to go to the doctor I disclose everything. They can't tell on you for anything anyways(unless you are pregnant) and everything you put into your body may affect the medicines doc may prescribe you. I am also very diligent in looking up anything the doctor prescribes us for anything. There have been a few things prescribed that I didn't take because I thought the risks didn't outweigh the benifits. Most of the time I don't even use docs. I do the research on my own and look for natural alternatives. Mostly because going to the doc is really not in our budget. Partially because I don't like the way docs treat you most of the time(yes I know there are good ones out there) They file you through like cattle and usually won't listen to you even if you know what's wrong(just went through this with a doc with DD) They will usually prescribe whatever the sales rep that has most recently visited is selling, no matter if there is something that will work as well that may be cheaper. lol All in all I'm pretty down on the medical profession as a whole. OK, I'm off my soapbox for now.... :D ;) :D

I have a fabulous doctor. I consider him a great diagnostitian and a warm and caring human being. But I also check out anything he prescribes. Not because I don't think he is looking out for my best interests but because he sees thousands of people each year and he may remember me but he can't remember everything about me.

There are people out there who will take something just because they want a pill to cure their ills. Those are the people who aren't reading the worst pills and should be.

Ok, I agree w/ most of this -- but what does it have to do with a worstpill website?!?

Every pill I take is listed on that site... I think they just list the side effects of all pills and list it as a do not take... dunno... but, I won't be putting much stock in to it. That's not to say I don't research my meds, I certainly do -- but it's not gonna be through a website that does nothing but say 'do not take' on all meds.
