This is just crazy to me.

(ABC 4 News)-- Just when you think you have heard it all, here is another unusual Ebay story -- this one with a close to home connection.

Kari Smith recently auctioned off a very visible part of her body, to be used as advertising space. And the prime piece of real estate in this case... is her forehead.

Smith decided to sell her forehead as ad space, in order to send her young son to private school. So she listed her forehead on Ebay, and it wasn't long before she had a winning bidder.

GoldenPalace.com purchased the rights to Kari's forehead, and decided to have the company name tattooed there.

"We're always looking for ordinary people doing extraordinary things," said Jon Wolf of GoldenPalace.com. "And this is definitely an extraordinary thing that she's doing."

Despite the unusual idea, Kari's boyfriend doesn't see anything wrong with it.

"I thought it was neat when she told me she wanted to do it," he said.

After enduring several minutes in the tattoo parlor chair, and the buzz of the needle, Kari says the whole idea was worth it.

"I think it's going to be a good thing," she said. "I'm going to be happy with what I've got."

By the way, the tattoo on Kari's head is permanent. The final price GoldenPalace paid for her forehead space: $10,000.

It is believed that Kari is the first person ever to have a permanent tattoo scrawled on her head for the purpose of advertising.

You know, some people will do anything for money. I hope her bangs don't cover the ad. And a tatoo is permanent unless you want to go through cosmetic surgery to have it removed. I would think that it would cost about $10,000 to do that.

Ok, getting a tattoo on the forehead (for ANY reason) is just stupid (and painful!)

But in order for me to do that I'd need a LOT more than $10,000 LOL It costs about $150 per square inch for laser treatment, but the process takes months! Totally insane.

On another thought... if she has to pay for the tattoo, shes going to spend a lot of money just doing that. Lord only knows how elaborate GP wants the tattoo to be. I have seen $3000 tattoo's that aren't all that big, but havea lot of detail...

I'd put it on my butt for $10,000... no one would see it anyhow LOL

I wonder how the seller is supposed to prove that she did it? I'm sure she can take pics, but she could use something that washes off.

$10,000 for a forehead tattoo lol that would be the day, what an idiot, that last guy made that much for a temp tattoo for a year! When I was at Johnson & Wales University a kid there came up with the headvertise, they would pay you like $400 a week to wear a temp tattoo on your forehead, and people did it. Wasn't much money but I guess it helped pay for school. Now what happens if this company goes out of business? Does she have a contract with them for life?
