Ugh! I had the same thing under my boobs last week. I think it was some type of fungal/yeast infection due to the constant moisture from sweating. I used some anti-fungal cream, then athlete's foot powder over it. I cleared up and healed in a couple days.
Hope this helps!

Try diaper rash cream(it works). If you have silver sulfadiazine cream(prescription only) cream for burns, use it.It works the best.

You could also, just at home (I do this under my boobs) keep a paper towel on the affected area to absorb the moisture away from your body... just change it out when it needs it... my boobs sweat like crazy, so I have to do this a lot during the summer. It would also keep the rash from rubbing against each other, so hopefully would take away some of the discomfort.
Hope you feel better soon!

I swear by A&D Original Ointment. I use it on my son during diaper changes and my husband had chaffed skin last week and I told him to apply some A&D on it and it cleared up overnight. You can find it at Target and Wal-Mart in the baby section where the shampoo's, etc. are located. I don't like the Wal-Mart version since it doesn't seem to do as good a job as the one distributed by Schering-Plough Healthcare Products. It says not to use on deep or puncture wounds, animal bites, and serious burns.
I hope you begin to feel better soon. Take care!

all of these ideas are great. I also get this under my tummy and under my boobs sometimes too. I use corn starch to help with the moisture or corn starch based baby powder and make sure when you get out of the shower to dry there very well a couple of times if needed.

I have that sometimes. The doctor told me to put a piece of cotton material under the "apron" (Your overhang) with Neosporin on it. I did and it healed it. I still wear the cotton under there so that it doesnt get all icky again. When I had my c/section last year, my OB told me to use folded gauze pads under there to "wick" the moistue away. That works too.

I get it and I treat it as a yeast infection with the fungal medicine over the counter. Walmart also makes some cream they mix up behind the counter called Fanny cream, it is for diaper rash but also works for this. Good luck.

Just agreeing with Jaidness - generic Gold Bond ($1.39 at Walmart) should do the trick after every bath/shower. Apply liberally. It's worth the mess.

I think it was some type of yeast infection due to the constant moisture from sweating. I used some anti-fungal cream.
I agree it is probably heat rash and a yeast infection.
Wash the affected area with mild soap & water.
Gently pat dry.
Apply whichever antifungal med (OTC you have available):
powder, ointment, spray, or cream. Yes, even your DH's
jock itch spray will work.
Place a dry dressing between the folds to keep it dry.
Do this morning and evening - 2 times a day.
Good luck, dear!

And wear cotton close to your skin. It will absorb the moisture.

ok if you all promise not to laugh i can tell you how i prevent this from coming back every year. i have had 3 c-sections so my belly just hangs there too, big chested don't help either. after i shower i take a hair dryer to dry under my chest and belly then put a layer of deodorant on and go. the hair dryer dries alot better than the towel......i tease dh of how silly i look but so what i am comfortable and no rash. :D took alot of guts to say this on here so dont take my word for it try it..........IT WORKS :D
if there is any men with this trouble........my dh uses the deodorant on the inside of his legs every summer. he works in log woods and his legs gaud, so he uses this to prevent it.

All of these suggestions have been really good, and I've tried a few of them myself. But I have another suggestion: jock itch spray. Yes, jock itch! (Both problems are caused by a fungal infection, therefore they can be treated the same way! Cruex is a good one to use, or you could just use a generic one from Wal-Mart or Rite-Aid) I also prefer this method because it's far less messy than creams, ointments and even powders. Once the redness and pain is gone, just make sure the area is very dry after you shower and use a good ANTIPERSPIRANT. Notice I did NOT say deodorant; all that does it make it smell better! Antiperspirant will prevent further perspiration, thus solving your problem for the future!
Hope that helps! ;)

I also use deodorant under my bra band that goes around under your breast that stops the moisture also.as for the bag balm we use to use it when our kids got diaper rash works better than the rash cream and its like $6 or $7 for a canister and lasts a really long time

Great tips, ladies!
I did notice that no males came into this thread.....
wouldn't they wonder about the jock itch medicines
that some ladies use....LOL!
Two summers ago, my teenaged son was at Scout Camp and it was
hot as ever. No airconditioning in those hot tents.
DS#1 needed some of the above listed medication.
All that I had on hand was the 'female' type......
My son was not happy at all that I suggested he use
my female medication on his male body! LOL!
We got him some of the male type and he was one
'Happy Camper!'

glad to see it's not just me either!! I had it so severely one summer that I could not stand straight and it was bleeding! I get it under my boobs too, in the heat. The only thing that worked for me (after LOTS of creams and ointment concoctions) was a mixture of miconozal (yeast inf. cream)-one tube, mixed with one tube of 1% hydrocortizone cream and some zinc oxide cream to thicken it up. The pharmacy mixed it up and then I just did it myself. Only thing I can get to work!
Good luck!
All are good ideas but also this is the time of year to wear cotton undies and bra's will help with this problem. Also someone mentioned drying after showering more than once sometimes I dont think we get those areas dry enough. Good luck
