I am still shaking - man this has been a crappy month!! I haven't had an accident since I was 19, and that was a fender bender too.

I left a space open in front of me (sitting at a red light) for people to turn left into a Wal-Mart. A very nice :P man pulled up, and filled the spot. There were four cars waiting to turn, so I check behind me to see if I can back up, and let them turn. A 16 yo girl in a TINY car, (I have a Montero) was on my back bumper. What bothers me is that I could not see her in ANY of my mirrors. Anyway, I only backed up about 6 or 8 inches when she honked and I stopped. My trailer hitch scratched her bumper - no major damage - and no damage at all to my truck. The little girl was so sweet - apologizing to me - even though I backed into her! She didn't have any shoes on, and she was standing on that hot Texas street getting my insurance information. I know her feet were on fire!

There goes my 16 year record!!

I'm glad that you are all right and there was barely any damage. I have to say that is why I am scared to drive my little car, b/c the big cars can't see me. :o I don't know how many times I've almost been run over, backed into, or creamed b/c they either did not look or didn't care to look (not saying this is you!) I keep waiting for the day when someone smashes into me b/c they couldn't be bothred to look at their huge honkin suv/truck window. Anyways... glad no one got hurt and you are all safe... sometimes being nice just doesn't pay off. :p

Thank you! I am glad no one was hurt too. As I said, what bugs me about it is that she was in none of my mirrors, and I could not see her through the window! So now I am wondering who else I can't see! Maybe we should be some of those big metal mirrors that stick out a foot! LOL

LOL.. too funny! (about the big mirrors.) I know the bigger they make the vehicles the harder it is to see other smaller ones around. I'm actually shocked ones like the hummer (which is a ridiculous every day vehicle imo) doesn't have huge mirrors. I don't want to see one of those coming near me b/c I can guarantee my little car wouldn't have a chance... I can't wait to be able to afford a medium sized suv to even it out. :p (hybred of course!) ;)

I am shocked that she appologized to you, at least she was nice and not a complete meanie. I was in a parking lot and had just started my car.. I usually always put the e-break up (i have a manual) but this time I must have spaced it off since the next day I was getting ready to move across the country.. well anyways, my car went forward and ended up hitting the license plate of this mini van. The lady was such a jerk about it. She acted as if I got in my car reved it up and went full speed right into her bumper. She took my info but never called... I am sure if she reported it to the insurance company they would have laughed at her b/c the only damage was the indentation of my screw into her license plate. I did appologize many times though and still feel bad and upset at myself all at the same time. Don't knock yourself down.. it could have been worse and it was an honest mistake.

I didn't report it to my insurance, the lady asked for my info. I don't think she reported it to her insurance either. I never heard from her after that. Besides something so small as that would cost more in the deductable than to just fix it yourself. :) There was no damage to my car so why waste the insurance ppl's time.

The girl's mom called me because the insurance company won't accept a claim from her, it has to be her daughter. I don't know what she thought I could do LOL I have already talked to them.

DH said he is going to install big mirrors, and put relective tape around, and add a back up alarm! LOL
