Andy Puzder, CEO of CKE Restaurants, which owns Carl's Jr., says the porn label is unfair. "There is no nudity. This is not Janet Jackson ... To call it porn in any sense is overreaching. This is an attempt to sell hamburgers. Get a grip!" He says the ad is targeted to "males 18 to 34 who love Paris Hilton."

I feel that just because there is no nudity doesn't mean that it isn't soft porn. If the commercial was just about trying to sell a hamburger why isn't there more airtime of the hamburger? LOL. I don't want this on in the daytime where my children will see it. I think making this commercial too racy just to sell hamburgers is overreaching. ( I didn't see a post on this anywhere so sorry if this is a repost).

edited to add: I read somewhere that Paris Hilton's dog had a book deal? How does that work LOL. Oh and I don't have anything against Paris Hilton, just that the commercial is kinda too racy.

There was another thread on this last week in OTC. While I agree it isn't porn, my feeling is that if Carl's Jr. only cares to cater to males 18 to 34 years old, so be it. I guess they don't care to appeal to women or kids or families. Because of these reasons, I never eat there.

You know I was also thinking about why are they only targeting males of a specific food group? Wouldn't they get more business if they made it more family oriented? And their soda sucks, it's all watered down. I thought it was just my Carl's Jr. but then I went to another one in another city and it was the same way.

WTH does Janet Jackson have to do with this commercial? I swear Carl's Jr will make any excuse to sell their crappy food. I am not offended by the commercial and don't care about Paris Hilton, but for Carl's Jr to act like they are not trying to push the envelope for attention is a lie.

While I’ve not seen the whole commercial (we have no Carl’s Jr. here in Maine. Whatever the hell Carl’s is.) But from what I’ve seen on the ‘Today’ show I can seen where people would be offended but…that is if the commercial makes you think of sex. (It) makes me think of washing my car. (I don’t find Paris particularly interesting.)
Plus the subject is questionable at best. It depends on what your definition of ‘soft porn’ is; and this is not mine.
If it takes Paris washing her car to get you to eat their food…it must really suck.

LOL :D Sometimes I'm afraid to read your posts, YNKYH8R, but thanks for the laugh on this one.

Carl's Jr. is a fast food restaurant out west (don't know exactly which states). I think it's the same company that owns another fast food chain, maybe Hardee's?

i think the commercial should not be aired until after 1 am if it has to be aired!! I dont want my children seeing this and I have already wrote a complaint about it.

could you have imagined this on tv 30 years ago? just another example of how this world is becoming more and more demoralized. for this to even have to be debated as "sexually charged or soft porn" is rediculous. i would not want my kids watching that crap.

well just be thankful we dont live in other countries.like in turkey and other countries commercials with full nudity is normal over there.also some of their regular shows are "adult oriented" makes you wonder.I agree with most of you and we try to keep this kind of stuff from our kids but its not like they wont go to a friends house and see the commercial there.at least shes covered a bit more than some women in music videos ive come across lately.I know not the point.but Im not going on forever.I dont eat much fast food anyway after seeing that movie "supersize me" or whatever its called made me change my mind about fast food.watch it youd be shocked at what eating a lot of fast food can do to your body.

Actually I heard that McDonald's is considering commercial spots where the McDonald land characters do the full monty. ;) :D

Well there is one thing you failed to mention and that is that in Europe there are also a lot of nude/topless beaches. So, seeing breasts and other body parts at a young age is not totally out of the norm. Does it make them better, no? They (Europeans) for the most part are not as uptight about their bodies.

OHHH thats Hot sorrry lmao you know i find it funny that people are in a tizzy when someone here posted that wearing clothes should be against the law...

Anyways I have a friend I met online and she would alway go sunbathing topless and they have sunscreen for your nipples her fave color was the hot pink. She was always asking me why us americans were so uptight about nudity I told her I have no clue we were born nekkid.

IMO Paris buttt looks big in some of these shots must be to many burgers

We don't have a Carl's here but I saw the commerical anyways and here is the deal like her or hate her, Paris Hilton is a "money making machine", thought I don't appuald this "cheap marketing" it is a simple fact, Paris is "HOT" now and anyone who has the cash to use her in a marketing ad, will..I find this ad as dis-tasteful as I did that Burger King ad with Hootie-has-been singing about "your pie-hole" which I didn't get and thought that line was something meaning quite different..and that ad is finished, I think..so Paris will get her's for awhile and with LUCK she will FADE away, though I think not too soon, though I think the ad will get pulled soon enough..I didn't think of washing my car however, I thought..HOW NOT HOT this was and if there was a Carl's here, I may just voice my thought's to them on the whole thing, it must be bad food or something if you gotta have a chick, nearly nude to sell a hamburger or what ever the point was..but that is marketing and it was and is sucessful, all the hoopla made it here, didn't it?

I dont know if you have a Hardee's up there in Maine, but west of the Mississippi river, they are called Carl's Jr. I didnt know this till I went to Choctaw, Oklahoma, and saw the SAME menu as Hardee's hehe. I dont know if the Paris Hilton commercial is for Hardee's too. I havent seen it.

I think it is hillarious that anyone thinks Paris Hilton eats that crap when she isn't being paid to do it! I think it is hillarious that Bentley gets basically free advertising! I also think that Paris isn't that attractive.

I also think many people won't remember the company that sells these burgars unless paris, herself, is outside waving at the place.

How hillarious. People are such suckers!

What does humping a car, grinding on a hose, and squarting water have to do with a burger?

ahhh.......her parents must be so proud of her lately!

wonder how fast the commercial would be pulled if it were a hot looking guy wearing the smallest of a thong or speedo?? maybe we should have mcdonalds make a commercial like that promoting the BIG MAC! LOL.....

isnt her 15 mins over yet??

I agree this isnt a family oriented commerical. I do agree that the way that we as american's view nudity is very different than the Europeans. I kind of wished we (American's ) had the view's of the Europeans when it comes to nudity. Ok sorry I rambled.

I personally do not have a problem with Paris, and I don't have a problem with them showing these sorts of things after 10pm at night, BUT my children are watching tv during the day and the thought of them seeing anyone in practically nothing humping a car p!sses me off! Must be a pretty nasty burger if you have to advertise like that! Just my two cents! ;)

I too saw this ad on the today show and thought it was a bit off color for daytime or primetime but here in the chicago area I am more offended by a local car insurance company that thinks it is okay for a judges eyes to pop out while he says "baliff take her to my chambers' after an attractive girl is in court for driving with no car insurance and requests community service. This message is really offensive and more directly to the point.

Me :p

I'm not uptight about naked people or my kids seeing a lot of flesh (I'm not saying anyone said I was). Heck if clothes were never invented I'd be happy :p But I do think they meant to be very sexual with the commercial.

Did anyone notice the $1.00 coupon to print on down the page?

We rarely eat at Hardee's.

I do like Paris, but this commercial is not about hamburgers,
it's about sex,
cars,
wet swimsuits,
suggestive poses,
and does appeal to a certain type of audience - male.
