Oh owie owie owie. Surgery went find, was on the table for almost two hours. I'm so sore! Tummy is bruised when they put the scopes in.

For those of you who have had your gallbladder out, is it normal for the whole are to be tight and feel like your guts are hanging out??? I've never had any kind of surgery before, so this is all new to me. And I think I still am trying to wear off the anesthesia. Still loopy, still tired, and oh yes, dizzy lol.

I feel for ya!! I had mine out in the days where they cut you from breastbone to belly button. Thats a rough surgery. Once all your organs get situated back in place you will fell so much better.

Did they not do a lapriscopy? (sp?) I had my removed that way and was really only hurting the first few hours. After that I was sore, but I was back to doing my normal stuff. (with the help of pain killers lol)

I will tell you this much.... you WILL gain weight if you are not careful. Because of one thing that happens to your body about the 1st year, you will lose some weight (I pigged out and lost about 45lbs) but when its over, you'll wish you would have disclipined yourself during that year.

I don't know how big or little you are weight wise, but after that 1st year, if you are not careful you will put weight on. My doctor told me that I would gain weight if I wasn't careful, but when I started losing it, I thought he was crazy... he wasn't LOL

I had mine out in 89, same day surgery...I ended up spending 3 days in the hospital..lol...I am anything but normal. I am glad that you are home and I believe its normal to feel like that.

Yeah, you will feel all different sorts of craziness until your body gets back to normal. I had mine out when my youngest son was just three months old (he's 4yrs old now). Mine was same day surgery and by that evening I was up walking around and wondering around the house. But that could be because my mom and MIL where there and I wanted to spend time with them instead of laying in bed. lol

I was sore for a while. Use a pillow to hold against your tummy when you are getting up or going to sit down. Its helps with the pain and tightness a little. Rest while you can and you should start feeling better pretty soon. :)

I had the BIG surgery when my oldest was 8 months old. I want to say that you will feel a WORLD better now. When you look back at your "good" days, you will see that they werent so good after all. Also, for awhile, until you get used to it, you will NOT want to eat and travel. I mean you will want to stay near a bathroom for awhile. Alot of people get diarrhea after they eat. Some people adjust and "level" out within a few months, but mine is still here, almost 17 yrs later. The good thing about it is, I have NEVER been constipated.

Butterfli, my doctor never said anything about the weight gain thing. How strange. I never lost any weight either. I guess I am just weird, huh?

Oh yeah, I forgot about that. I also still have that problem and its been a few years now since my surgery. My doctor just recently diagnosed me with IBS. It all started after my surgery though.

My doc never said anything about weight loss either....dang it anyway!
Its day two, and I'm having lots of problems with moving. I guess that's typical, but what do I know. Also told me I'd have some problem with umm...going potty. So what do I do about THAT! I have no idea if what I'm feeling is normal or not. Tummy is still swollen and it hurts to breathe in deep, hurts to move too. My husband has been so good to me...he helps me out of bed, helps me off the couch...even went and bought a pair of pants i could wear---with elastic and no zipper. I am definately not eating as much and I don't know why. Any ideas???

I stayed sore for few days.......they did the laser, but had to go in more places then planned. But the soreness depends on how much they had to probe around in there, and in the person. I have a pretty high pain tollerance and I won't lie I HURT!!!!!!!!!!
Your'e eating will get better as the soreness leaves. I wanted to eat the foods that I hadn't been able to eat for years.....LOL When your app does come back.......these people know what they are talkin about.....be close to a bathroom after you eat.....its been 5 years since my surgury and I still have days when I eat that I have to run then other days are better. Mil has same troubles and its been years for hers too. This is very aggraviating when going out to eat, or shopping.......but you adjust. Hope you get to feeling better and soreness leaves very soon. Many prayers :)

Ouch! Sorry you are having so much discomfort.

Just curious - what hospital?

I had my GB out...oh...10 years ago by scope and spent the night as
an observation by choice. I was little puffy in the tummy, but nothing major.
Not a lot of pain either. Just a couple of days later, I went out to eat
with my Mom and my little sons. It was the easiest surgery ever for me.

When do you go back for your doctor's visit? Seems to me that
you are in a lot of discomfort post op.

With even needing help to
get up, while it is very sweet of your hubby, should not be that
much discomfort.
Hoping that you'll have a quick and easier recovery.

My daughter had her gall bladder removed when she was 20. The first few days was the worse for her by the end of that week she was better but still hurting.
She has 3 spots on her stomach where they took it out. I know she was using her pain medicine for it.
As far as pottying they make stool softners you can get over the counter. Get the generic they are alot cheaper than the name brand. Or you could drink something like Metamucil or Citracel that will help also.

My follow up is not until the 19th. I think I did a bit much today as I'm sick to my stomach. I had mine done at Covenant Hospital. I drank that nasty citrucel. and nothing as of yet lol

I had my gallbladder out in November but I also had a total hysterectomy done at the same time so I was ouchie ouchie from that as well.

Im soooooo glad I had that gallbladder out though! Makes a world of difference to be able to eat without pain!

hugs

oh and wanted to add... my gallbladder part was laproscopic. I was cut 2 times down my ribcage and a little slit in my side and then in my bellybutton where the gallbladder was actually taken out thru. Is this how they did yours?

Well the reason for my weight loss was that I could not eat without needing to be close to a bathroom lol That went on for about 2 years, then it stopped and I gradually started gaining.

My sisiter in law went through the same thing. Not fun... especially since I got preganet about 2 mo after the surgery and I wanted to eat all the time
