Sudden knot on neck...hurts like heck

I just went to the dr. yesterday and got an exam for my fibro and back pain. Then in the evening i went to the chiropracter. Then last night all of a sudden I feel this hard pea sized knot about 3/4th an inch behind my ear on my neck. It is making my whole neck on that side hurt. I hate to bother the doctor since I just saw him yesterday. But this really hurts.

Sounds like a swollen lymph node. Do you have an infection (sinus, ear, etc.)? Sometimes it can go away on its own. If not, you may have to see a doctor. Hope you feel better.

it could also be a cyst. I get them often on the left side of my neck right below my earlobe. If you can tolerate warmth on it , use warm/hot compresses to relieve the pain (on good days I can take warm heat). But IMHO , call the doctor, this is not a bothersome call (like my ex MIL- she calls everytime she gets a paper cut cause she read an article about staph infections)
