i am not looking for replies or conversation. this is just me rambling. if you're a racist or homophobe, i probably don't like you. if you can disagree with me respectably i don't have a problem with you, even though i do not agree with your thoughts. but if you agree with me, that's great. i'm glad to meet you (or see you again if i already sort of know you), and i wish there could be more people like you.
i was hesitant to post because of the nature of the post, but it's bugging me. it's easier for me to type things out online than to talk to someone in person. i don't know why.
i am not going to post details to avoid offending anyone.
you racist people, get your head out of your ass. i am sick of it. i am sick of those stupid lighters with the rebel flag that scream GIT ER DUN when you open them. there are swastikas spray painted on the stop signs all over my neighborhood. and no one does anything about it. i've complained about it. other have complained. nothing. why do people have be that way? why hate someone because of their color or sexual preference or religion? the whole homophone thing really irritates me. why do you care if he wants to be with a guy instead of a girl? because you don't want him hitting on you. what in the hell makes you think you're worth it to him to hit on? that's just conceited and you should be slapped. even if he hits on you, tell him you're straight and let it go. as long as he respects that and doesn't break boundaries, there is no problem! maybe you're scared you might give in to those secret desires ... there's a thought for you. if that narrow brain of your starts to smoke, stop thinking.
i am going to take this part of my post out. it is only meant to show a positive reason against racism, but i'm not sure how it will go over. people can get touchy on here, and everyone seems to have something hateful to say about anything i post, so i think it's best to leave it out.

Ok, I'm a little confused here. Where I live, "Git 'Er Done" is a softball expression. My daughter pitches for her school's JV team, and this is one of the things her teammates yell to her when she pitches. When she stikes a player out, you then yell "She's Done". Obviously it must have other meanings, so could someone please clue me in?

Boy,
I am from the sound and "Git 'Er Done" is an expression that a lot of people use whether they are black or white. As far as the Rebel Flag, you know what, its a part of the American fabric. Yes it has had some very negative things associated with it, ie lyinching, jim crow, etc but I know some "good ol boys" who wear the scarfs on their heads but they are some of nicest people you will ever find. I know because I am black (african american, negro - at this point I'm not even sure what is politically correct ;) ) and they have stopped and helped me change flat tires, open doors for me and so forth.
About the swastikas sprayed in your neighborhood, quit your complaining and grab some paint yourself and paint over what you dont like.
Just an observation - for someone to be so young, you are one of the most bitter/negative persons I have ever run across. Do you find nothing good in life? Have you ever thought that maybe you need to change your thinking and ways and maybe you would get a better outlook about things>

Git Er Done is on the back window of every other pick up truck down here. I try not to be prejudiced against them though - they are just having fun. I know several of them, and they are not racist - maybe that is just your neighborhood.
I agree, maybe you should consider relocating. I would hate living somewhere like that...

I amazed that how one person can take a topic that most people would agree with them on, and make it so caustic and toxic that you find it hard to agree with them anyway. Therefore, I will only say racism is bad, intollerence of any kind is bad.
I think you need to lead by example. Dont worry how others do things but if you do RIGHT,make the right decisions, and you will make friends who are the same as you etc.etc Kinda like thinking the glass is half full instead of half empty.

Again...ITA. Plus...the OP gets upset because people have gotten upset with her comments. She apparently doesn't have the maturity to even comprehend just how inflamatory her comments are. But then...maybe that is truly her intent. I've tried to be kind in my responses, but based on the venom I've seen in her recent posts...I'm beginning to think it is a waste of my time.
Let me just say that rascism, or prejudice of any kind, of abhorant.

Thanks for posting this! I was getting worried, as Chelsea has a couple of T-shirts with "Git 'Er Done" on them. As far as the rebel flag goes....there's a whole line of clothing called Dixe Outfitters that feature the flag, and are VERY populatr with the kids. My daughter wears them all the time, and she has friends of all races. I think a lot of people wear the rebel flag because they think it looks cool, and don't think about any negative meaning that may be implied. KWIM?

i agree with the issue that racism is wrong, but exactly how do you define being a redneck as racist??? just because someone is from the country (THOMASVILLE PA) likes COUNTRY MUSIC, THE REBEL FLAG , AND YES SAYS GIT ER DONE that doesnt make me a racist. i have friends and family of all nationalities and colors. wouldnt generalizing people because of of who they are and not by how they treat others defineYOU as a racist?? AND YES JUST IN CASE I WASN'T CLEAR I AM A REDNECK AND I LOVE IT!!!!

By the rebel flag are we talking about the confederate flag? I'm sorry but I hate it when people fly that flag instead of the american flag. Wearing it as a fashion thing is one thing, but I saw so many people down south who still believe the confederacy is alive and well and don't even believe in our flag lol. I also hate it when people fly the french flag or puerto rican flag instead of the american. In my opinion, its great you have pride in your own country but you live here now, fly the American flag along side of it. If your home country is that great then why are you here? I just personally find it disrespectful. I would never go live in spain and fly the american flag everywhere lol.

I always said that if you were blind, you wouldn't notice. And even at that, I'd much rather have my daughter marry from a different race and have him love and respect her, than a white man who beats her.

I hear people say things about racist all the time. I'm sure they are out there, but I rarely see or hear anything that makes me think a person is racist in my daily life. I think of us as Americans instead of colors. Most of us are not full blood any race anyway.
Grow up and get over it, the only so called race in American that has to be careful around other races now is the Caucasians. Just let one of them step out of line and see what happens. I dare them to try and get a "White Entertainment Broadcast" going and see what happens. Or wonder what would happen if they tried to get an organization like the "National association for the Advancement of white people" ....boy talk about spit hitting the fan then!
The race haters of the world are just the ignorant no matter what color they are and they shouldn't be wasting their time on something so meaningless. I wish they would put that same energy into something to help save the planet.
And as far as you downing the Southerners and their heritage, it makes you sound like you are the one with all the hate for others in your heart.
I like what J.J. Johnson Editor and Chief of the Sierra Times has to say about the Confederate Flag!
http://www.sierratimes.com/archive/jj/edjj022000.htm
The Confederate Flag:
Should We get Rid of It?
J.J. Johnson - Posted: 02.20.00
Okay, so what’s wrong with me? In celebration of slain Civil Rights Leader Martin Luther King’s day (week?) if I watch enough news, I should be out there with my black brethren yelling, screaming and looking to burn every free waving Southern Cross I run across. So what’s wrong? Shouldn’t I be offended as well?
In a way, yes. I am. And here’s why:
I had ancestors who fought on both sides of that war – which was anything but civil.
Surprised?
Yes, in Northern Mississippi in fact. Cousin against cousin. One man trying to protect what was his, and one who escaped slavery only to be drafted into taking his cousin’s land away. This little fact, along with all the arguments about Southern Heritage, Southern Pride and Remembering the Gentlemen who in died war gets lost in all the noise about why it’s so “insensitive.”
…And I am just fed up with it.
More than that, I’m fed up with the yellow-bellied, white guys who don’t have the guts to fight back on the issue. I know, no one wants to get labeled the “R” word. To politicians, it’s a label that’s worse than being called a liar, an adultorer or a draft dodger. And heaven knows, you white guys in the public sector better not even bring it up at work or in public. There’s a civil rights lawsuit with your name on it. Yet, I know how many of you – especially you folks south of the Mason-Dixon line must feel right now.
Wanna fight back?
Hold my coat for a minute…
Where were these protests against OUR Confederate battle flag for the last 135 years? Why are these black people allowing themselves to be manipulated by the media and their left-wing, so-called "black leadership?" Whenever I hear a black person talk about this flag issue, I ask them the same questions. Do you know how long that flag has been flying over those state capitals? Haven’t you seen them there before? The answer from most blacks I talk to out west is, “who cares?”
Not good enough for the National Association for the Advancement of Career Politicians (NAACP). Not good enough for these modern-day “Plantation Pimps” who can’t find any other juvenile criminals to fight for so now they retaliate by “dissing” a great hunk of American culture. This is ONLY being done to pander to black voters this political season. You see, back in 1992, folks just decided to burn down Los Angeles while liberal politicians mailed gasoline to the rioters. This time, let’s burn down a heritage instead.
I hope some black person is reading this right now and fuming. You should be. If you think the Confederate flag is insulting to you, you are being used, or as we say it in the hood, you bein’ played – for a fool. By who? Not by those evil conservatives, but by the liberal white man. The ones who’ll take your votes, then tell you you’re not good enough to make it on your own.
But there is no sense giving you the same argument many of the Southern Ladies and Gentleman are trying to give now. You don’t want to hear them, anyway.
Let’s talk about “insensitivity,” shall we?
If you don’t mind, some of us with southern roots are going to find every Vietnamese American citizen in this country, bus them to Washington, D.C. and protest to have the Vietnam Memorial removed from the park. Why stop there? On the way to Washington, we might as well grab every citizen with German or Japanese ancestors. With enough noise, we can get rid of that World War II Memorial, too. After all, These people all had relatives who were killed by the men and women America honors at those Memorials. You liberal, nothing-else-better-to-do black folks wouldn’t mind, would you?
Yes. Let that sink in real good. That’s what you’re doing to these good people of the South. You are DESECRATING THEIR MEMORIAL… Check that – Our Memorial.
What ever happened to Diversity? Tolerance? Must be a one sided thing.
Don’t give me that “Symbol of Slavery” bull****. If that were the case, turn in all those 1, 20, 50, and 100 dollar bills. The faces on these bills were men who were leaders when many blacks were slaves. But let’s get down and dirty, shall we?
The worst riot in American history was not in Los Angeles. It was in New York, back in 1863. You see, there were a bunch of people who, like during Vietnam, didn’t want be conscripted (read: drafted) to serve in an unjust war. Talk to your President about that. Over 1200 people died in just two days. Most when President Lincoln sent federal troops in to put down the “rebellion.” Oh, by the way, 83 blacks were lynched in those two days – right there in The Big Apple. So, which flag do you really want taken down?
But since we’re all told to boycott, will those leftist, black elected leaders in South Carolina boycott the Statehouse while its in session? I doubt it. Will they avoid buying goods in their own state? Doubt it. Our forefathers who wrote the Constitution gave all of us a way to deal with a state’s policies we didn’t like. That’s what the South was fighting for. It was not about slavery. If that were the case, we’d be bombing China right now, and we would not accept license plates made with prison labor right here in the good ol’ USA.
Oh…What’s the black population percentage in prison these days, anyway?
The multicultural extremists can’t call me racist, but in the black socialist community, they have even uglier words for people who refuse to live on that “plantation,” such as me. Just ask Clarence Thomas.
So let that flag wave proudly as a monument to the last Army in this country that actually fought for the Constitution. I am proud to have ancestors who fought with them. And for those people who don’t want their state to fly the Southern Cross, here a solution that’s much easier that protesting…
…leave.
There’s a term for it. Its called “white flight.”

Coming out of a restaurant tonight I saw a truck with the word CRACKER on the front and the confererate flag. I was just ???????????. Doesn't mean anything to me cause I don't understand it all. Just  about it. If it's suppose to offend anyone I don't know about it.
That is the thing about racism, if the person can't be in power over the other person, they can't really make any impact except to laugh at them. That inclused sexism and ageism as well.

about git er done - there are these lighers at work, they have the flag on them, and when you open it it yells GIT ER DONE. they are annoying to begin with, but what really made me dislike them was when a young african american girl asked me why the people in the store didn't like her. i told her no one disliked her and asked her why she thought that, and she pointed to the lighter. that is what sparked my post.
as far as me spray painting over the swastikas on the stop sign, i have no desire to be arrested. the thought has crossed my mind, but i can't afford to get caught and go to jail.
LuvBigRip, i'm not sure what i've said to make this so toxic. and i don't care. but if you didn't want to make a rude comment about me, you should have left out the part about me being so wrong (again).
schsa/ahippiechick, i stated in another post that i am done with that topic. i am not going to go back into that, i've explained myself several times already. as far as getting a blog, or whatever they are, i don't like them.
as far as me being a negative person, that's not true. you see me that way if the only posts of mine you read are from vent/whine. try reading a post of mine that isn't in vent/whine. i post about other things if i think anyone else on the board would be interested. but so far, i've only seen adorkablex (sp?) list interests similar to mine, and that was only in the magazines we read. s/he (sorry, i don't recall seeing anything to specify a gender - please don't take it out of context, if you even see this) hasn't liked me since i can remember (not just this past week), so i don't see us having a conversation. and as i see it you must be just as bad as me if you spend enough time in this section to notice all my vents. i have posted lots of non-vent things before, and no one is interested. which i can understand, i haven't met many people on this board who like what i do. the one or two i did disappeared.

I try not to be racist. Though I will be honest and say that at times I am. But I am open minded and willing to live, learn, and listen. I get irked when Jimmy the Greek makes a statement about africians being better athletes in running which has scientific backing and he is drummed out of the business yet Martin Lawrence can make cracker remarks, which is a derrogatory term used about whites and nothing is done. We are all people created by the same god. For the most part we love our children and will bleed if we are cut. We all feel pain and want something better for ourselves and loved ones. We are all more alike than different.

That is my line - I am not prejudice - I hate everyone equally. I do not discriminate against people of any race, color , creed , national origin or sexual orientation- If you are a jerk or an idiot - you are a jerk and or an idiot.
now, as far as git er done, if that erks you to hear that , Come to Pittsburgh & hear how we talk here, talk about slang. The Confederate Flag is not only flown by "rednecks" but alot of southern & northern people . Good greif, don't ever go to a civil war re-enactment, you'll really get P.O'd.

I
Grow up and get over it, the only so called race in American that has to be careful around other races now is the Caucasians. Just let one of them step out of line and see what happens. I dare them to try and get a "White Entertainment Broadcast" going and see what happens. Or wonder what would happen if they tried to get an organization like the "National association for the Advancement of white people" ....boy talk about spit hitting the fan then!
The White Entertainment Broadcast is television right now and it has always been that way for centuries, that's the reason why BET was created because of the lack of color on those stations. Also do some fact checking and see why the NAACP was started.
This is why I don't like to talk about race because ignorance wins over facts. Unbelievable.

First off, Television hasn't even been around for centuries.
Second, I know exactly why the NAACP was started, I don't need to check.
And third don't try to turn my post into something it's not.
One thing I do agree with you on is, some people's ignorance is unbelievable!

Thank you for that! Lol, its so true. I like or hate everyone equally, not sure which one it is, but lets see someone try to call a college "historically white" or create a "caucasion club" and watch people freak! Lol, anyways, I wish racism would stop, its so stupid. And it goes both ways, its not just whites being racist against blacks, I've seen a lot of it go the other way lately too.
ITA with you! :)

I am proud of my heritage..The rebel flag is my heritage and I'm proud of it..The reason the little girl at the store thinks the way she does is because her parents have taught her to feel this way..So most likely,,her parents or who ever taught her this are the ones who are predjustice(sp)..All of this crap about the rebel flag started in South Carolina...They even went and changed our state flag because of this crap..Just because we honor the rebel flag does not mean we are predjustice..

Umm.. Just to clue you in.. YOU ARE NOT GOING TO CHANGE THE WORLD, OR THEY WAY PEOPLE THINK..
Get over it.. The world is an unfair, harsh place..
The world is a lot bigger than the tiny little town that you live in, When I was your age, I thought I was important, that I mattered, but really you don't matter, your not important. No one is.
And to quote one of the best movies ever made , mind you this was back in 1942 , but I feel it means more today than ever - CASABLANCA
"It doesn't take much to see that the problems of three little people don't amount to a hill of beans in this crazy world"
And to go with what everyone is saying... I hate Stupid people.. white, black, red, yellow.. I see no color just ignorance!

I hate racism too. However most people think it is just against blacks and that is just not true. I hail from the Chicago area and a few years ago they were talking about racism in my sons 6th grade class. I got a call from my sons teacher because my son was correcting her in class. She said that blacks in Chicago have had it hard because of segregation. They had shops and restaurants etc., that were for blacks and others for whites. My son corrected her. If that were the case then why would blacks escape from the south to the north? That would be like jews running from Nazis to the SS. Blacks were no less thought of because of their race but rather their social standing. There were many prominent blacks in chicago. They belonged to the country clubs that all the elite belonged to. Race, gender did not play a part. In the south, well that is a different story. Do your research and you will see. I sent some old Tribunes with my son to school the next day. They did a wonderful series on just this subject.
The problems arise when government steps in and says we need a program called affirmative action. This programs makes it seem as if blacks are unable to succeed without it. A good businessman will hire whom ever is going to make him money. If they dont they are stupid. The problem with affirmative action is that it gives favored status because of race alone which in of itself is racist. Then you have to here stories about Gen. Colin Powell being an african-american. He is not. He is Jamacian. All blacks are not from africa. They are from central and south america, Haiti, Jamaica, etc. Then there is talk of paying reparations to blacks because of slavery. While watching a discussion on the subject I learned that it is to be paid to all blacks whether they had slave ancestors or not. If you come to this country and then next week they are paying reparations then get in line being black entitles you. And while on the subject of slavery, why do blacks not take some responsibility for that. Different tribes would kidnap men from other tribes and they would sell them to other blacks who sold them to the ment from the states looking for slaves. White men did not go out and collect these men. They white man went there and said we need slaves and slaves were delivered. Yes the treatment of most slaves were horrendous. But be it known that over 20% of slve owners in Georgia were themselves black. What about native americans? We practically exterminated them. We gave them diseases, bad medicine and bad food and kept stealing their land. Scalping was not something they did to us but rather what we did to them. Fur traders and government men would pay a price for the scalp. There was a different price for men, another price for woman and still another price for children. I thinnk today we are living in a time where racisism is at it worst. Partly because we are tired of hearing the boo hoos of those who never were slaves, their grandparents were not slaves and some go farther back still. They have the same opportunity as everyone, but you must work for it and some feel it is better to live generationally on the welfare system. It ps me off when I hear about a woman at my friends work who is a nurse and still receiving government assistance. Hello, she is making at least what my friend makes which is 60K a year. She lives is subsidized housing to boot. Yet when my hubby and I were both unemployed and I had cancer, it took over 6 months to receive any assistance and we only got that because we made calls to sringfield and complained. It turns out the black woman who was our social worker was really an office assistant and she was racist. If the tables had been turned with a white woman doing this to a black family I assure you that they would have hit the money motherload. Make it fair and equal for all. Period. No favortism, no affirmative action. If you are the best for the job then you get it. Espically in civil service.
Oh and standardized test are not fair for anybody. But blacks are always saying they lean in favor of whites. This to is not true because no matter how you add it up 2+2 will always equal 4.

I will not comment on the rest of your statement, but as for this:
the test has been standardized for middle class white people from like oklahoma or something. Yes 2 + 2 will always = 4, however those are not the questions asked. If someone is middle to upper class they are able to afford more things than lower class persons, including education opportunities and their parents USUALLY are more educated than the lower class persons thereby they are able to help their children more and afford to stay at home more. Also, whites have/live in a different culture/environment than blacks. Sometimes when you live in your own world it is hard to see outside into others. Most people who complain that things are centered around blacks or that blacks are always "complaining" are usually white. How would a white person (the dominant culture) know what a person from another culture/environment is feeling/thinking and what they see everyday? It is the same thing why most middle/upper class persons complain about lower class persons always being on welfare and why don't they just get a job, etc. It is because they most likely have never lived in a lower class persons culture and do not understand what they live like.
****BIG NOTE I AM NOT SAYING THIS APPLIES TO EVERYONE AS THERE WILL ALWAYS BE EXCEPTIONS TO THE RULE!!!** I have to put this because someone will get on here and say I used to be lower cvlass and now I am not.......so on and so on.

The standardized tests are basicly things you should have an understanding of. Math is the same for every race. Science is as well. The study of something is ology. No matter what it is. H2O is always water. Geography changes but thiings are basicly the same. If a question asks about Yugoslavia, they are talking in the past as today it is know as Serbia. Then there is language, ain't is not acceptable, periods are what ends a thought, each sentence has a subject. A noun is a person, place animal or thing, a verb is a word of action. This does not change for lower, middle or upper class. I live well below poverty level and my kids do extremely well on these tests but I believe they should be used more as a guide then rather than trying to measure childrens intelligence, somethiing which cannot be measured by written testing alone. I live well below poverty level. If we were at poverty level we would have more than we do. Poor does not equal stupid. Both of my oldest go to private university and are on acedemic scholarships. The difference was genetic for one but also the time I spent with them. When they were young I chose to be poor and stay home. Once my youngest was 3 I went back to work but worked the hell shift because it meant I would be home with them during the day and evenings. I worked from 2am-9/10 am. We have rules and guideline that must be followed. Homework gets done after school and I know what is going on in their classes. I look at their papers and discuss school with them. This is not a balck and white thing. It is common sense. Some of the largest problems the schools face today is lack of parental involvement, whether it be at school or at home. It is also the most difficut thing to try and resolve because parents are either not able to or cannot be bothered going to open house, parent/teacher conferences etc. I know my kids teachers and administrators and they know me as well. I volunteer at the high school but also the grade school which none of my kids attend anymore.
Here is another issue. I pay taxes for my home. High taxes to boot. I do this so my kids can go to a school that offers not only regular classes but honors and AP classes too. I struggle because I know it is worth it in the long run for them. That is what I believe parents should do. Yet I know people that live in neighborhoods where the taxes are much lower and their kids get bussed to a better district. They must ride the bus for an hour each way 5 days a week. My district does not do this but a nearby one does. As a poor, struggleing taxpayer, I would be furious at this. Don't say they cannot afford it because if they wanted to they can. A nearby town Robbins, Il. is poor, some houses are in reallly bad shape yet they have a cadillac escalade in the driveway. It is all about choices.

i agree with the issue that racism is wrong, but exactly how do you define being a redneck as racist??? just because someone is from the country (THOMASVILLE PA) likes COUNTRY MUSIC, THE REBEL FLAG , AND YES SAYS GIT ER DONE that doesnt make me a racist. i have friends and family of all nationalities and colors. wouldnt generalizing people because of of who they are and not by how they treat others defineYOU as a racist?? AND YES JUST IN CASE I WASN'T CLEAR I AM A REDNECK AND I LOVE IT!!!!
LOL! Mighty redneck-phobic and intolerant of the OP, huh? LOL!

It's only "racist" when it's a white person's point of view.
It's "diversity" for the rest of the races point of view. :D
Look into any Nationality's history and you're sure to find apprehensible wrong doings. Time to get over the past and drop the "PC" guilt trip.

ITA, unfortunatly as long as minorities are contenually told and convinced that they must have extra assistance to compete on the same field as everyone else, it is something that will never be rectified. I know many people of various races that are NOT convinced of this. Slowly people are waking up about this though and eventually we really will all be equal. :D

I agree with both of you guys. The affirmative action system is a mess. I was just actually offered a job at a great company because they needed more women to meet quota and I turned it down. I refuse to be hired somewhere because of my race or gender, I want to make it based on my performance and intelligence. Many people don't see it that way however. How equal is everyone if certain people must rely on a hand up? I'm offended by it personally. (the fact that I was offered a job because I was female, just want to clarify on what offended me lol) :D

i post about other things if i think anyone else on the board would be interested. but so far, i've only seen adorkablex (sp?) list interests similar to mine, and that was only in the magazines we read. s/he (sorry, i don't recall seeing anything to specify a gender - please don't take it out of context, if you even see this) hasn't liked me since i can remember (not just this past week), so i don't see us having a conversation. and as i see it you must be just as bad as me if you spend enough time in this section to notice all my vents. i have posted lots of non-vent things before, and no one is interested. which i can understand, i haven't met many people on this board who like what i do. the one or two i did disappeared.
The only reason I have to hate you is because you live in Ky (jk, it's an inside joke I have with my Mom about my Ex)
Believe it or not, I don't hate you, I don't even dislike you for that matter. It just ticks me off when anyone makes generalizations about people. I don't really use this board to meet friends to be honest. I've got plenty of friends in my life without the help of the net. There are a few people from this board that I would count amongst my friends though. And yeah I've noticed that you and I do have quite alot in common. But to be honest I never thought of pm'ing you or anything because I didn't figure you'd be interested or open to chatting with me.
I understand that you use this place as a venting board. Because sometimes you just can't go to a friend in RL and witch and moan over some things. I just think you hit some tender nerves in some people on some of the comments you make. I think you just have to keep in mind sometimes that some of the things that you say in anger could hurt someone even if it's not aimed at them.
Now, that being said, my name is Ashley I'm 18 (19 in June) and I'm a girl who lives in Georgia. I like indie music and movies and I'm a goofy and dumb person in real life. I've got strong opinions and a quick temper. But my temper cools quickly. Now knowing all of that, if you'd like to chat with me sometime and have another person to just IM and ***** at to get your negative feelings out, my SN on aim is lxvergirl.
