As if the shootings aren't scary enough...

Tulsa - There are now four victims of an apparent highway sniper along the Creek Turnpike. The fourth victim was washing her SUV when she noticed the bullet hole. All four vehicles that have been targeted are SUVs. That has many people thinking an anti-SUV environmentalist could be behind the shootings.

A search of Internet forums brings up several instances of anti-SUV rant, including some very chilling entries that are eerily similar to what's been going on in Broken Arrow.

"Perhaps if they were to start a DC sniper-type shooting rampage of SUV drivers they might come close in the short run," one said. Another says, quote, "Shoot owners of SUV's in the head, but don't make it obvious why you did it."

The focus of these people's anger seems to be gasoline prices and the environment. If gas prices are in fact the fuel to the fire, Tuesday night's 12-cent increase in price may have set the shooter off.

Luckily there have been no injuries reported from the shootings.

Of course, no one is commenting at this point on any possible suspects or motives behind the shootings. But, authorities do say if you were in that area at about that time, you might want to check your car.

"I would be concerned if I was driving around about that time in that location," says Trooper Pete Norwood. "If you knew you were on the turnpike at that time, go take a look at the front of your car. There may be some evidence that we might need. It could be vital to this case."

WTH is going on??? I Didn't even know there were such things as "anti-suv" forums (I was shocked when I googled it)

Wow thats crazy! I don't like SUVs myself but I wouldn't shoot someone over it! Unbelievable. Geez you have to pay a whole 10 cents more at the pump, lets take someone life over it?? Is that what a life is worth to these people?

I drive a luxury SUV. It gets pretty good mileage, 18 city and 22 highway (averages, not exact). I don't think my SUV is bad on the environment, it passes emission tests required for the state. I think people just feel they need someone/something to blame for the gas prices. Glad I don't live in that area, I wouldn't want to try to dodge bullets AND crazy drivers:)

A lot of ppl in NJ are crazy, from my limited experience of driving in that state, not suprised there is someone going postal there. Really hope that they catch this guy before it escalates out of control

Proud SUV owner here....whats the problem? I pay for my gasoline, just like someone that is driving a tiny car, except mine cost more. I think whoever is doing it is just looking for an excuse to kill someone, tomorrow it could be all people that wear hats. The world has gone mad.
BTW we also have to pass an emissions test (which is a whole other vent). I get like 22 miles to the gallon and I truly truly LOVE ours.

OH my gosh! How awful! I actually want a small SUV, but I want one that is a hybrid so it's better on gas mileage and the environment. Eventhough I don't like gas guzzeling SUV's I have no plans to go shooting up driver. Geesh  My friend actually got a Saturn Vue and it has better gas mileage than his Monte Carlo. But my little car gets over 30 mpg, I could NOT imagine driving something that barely got 20! I'm no money bags! ;)
