The principal let Jason come back to school on In School Suspension this past Wednesday. We had the hearing today (i had a lawyer there too). But really the hearing today was a waste of time. They just passed it back off to the school to determine Jason's "punishment". So we still don't know anything yet. The administrator has 10 days to decide but she said she will only take a few days and then pass it to the school to determine what should be done.
The school admitted that Jason had come to them multiple times complaining of being bullied, teased etc. And that Jason is a good child and this is his first offense. But when my lawyer asked what punishment was given to any child who was the bully, they claimed privacy rights and would not answer. Which, we thought was slack. We do not want to know who got punished, just if anyone in the school was ever suspended etc for bullying. Jason did really good at the hearing though. We were really proud of him. He told the Administrator, that he is scared to go to school every day and would rather be in In School Suspension than in regular class where he is bullied every day. And that is sad when he is scared to get out of the car. He should not have to put up with all he does. The Administrator praised Jason for being in school for 150 days, having to put up with this every day, and Jason still doing good with school work and that this is his first offense.
My lawyer brought up a bill that some senators are trying to get passed.
It is a harsher penalty for bullying etc and the schools should be trained on preventing this. I really hope it will go through.

Again, thank you all for your support and kind words.

Oh, seperate thing, Jason does not have any luck. We were getting his hair trimmed this past Friday for the hearing. The lady forgot to put the clip on the razor and ended up shaving him bald. She started and had a big bald spot on his head so she had to shave it all off. She was talking to another coworker when she did this. She did not consult with me about this. Jason was so upset. We were furious. They said they will give us a coupon for a free haircut. Well, we are not going back there anyway. And Jason will not need another hair cut for 6 months, lol.

well i am glad you all stood up for yourselves, kudos to your son especially.
Bullying is so cruel and in some ways the worst type of behavior, I hope all schools get tough on bullying and that the bullies get caught and punished more often. Please keep us updated ((((((((((((dena and son)))))))))))

Glad that you are making progress with the school.

Bullying is just wrong.

On the + side, he won't need a hair cut for a long, long time.
Hope you get a picture because DS probably won't have hair
like this again.

*Slightly tongue in cheek* hmm..no hair, no chance of lice..

seroiusly, so basicly, you got the runaround? got to watch an indepth game of "pass the buck"? well, i hope it all works out for you. and your son!!

please keep us updated. these idiots the admin i mean, wonder why we have so many bad kids? this here is perfect example..they DON"t punish the kid thats bullying, punish the vicitm, sending teh message of "if i do this to others nothing will happen so i might as well stop acting nice..and just be a rat." to those already bullying it just shows them that no matter what there will be no punishment for their actions, so they can do it more!!"
:D
Ciao!

i have never heard of that bill, but i hope they pass it too. i think repeat offenders of bullying should be thrown into juvie with some real tough asses from the streets, i bet they'd calm their punk asses down real fast.

Well, I am right there with you honey...A month ago my son(10) was bullied on the bus by a 13 yr.old.Well this incident happened again, after the boy was told to stay away from my son on the bus. This time it was worse, my husband and I watched the video and I could not believe what I saw. I sat there and watched my son getting jabbed in the side, in the face, shoved against the window and then sucker punched in the face before he was to get off the bus. I sat there and cried as we watched it with the principal. My son recieved 2 days in ISS because they say that HE provoked the boy to hit him. The video clearly shows my son not saying a word to him until after he got hit.The other boy got suspended off of the school bus for the rest of the year... and 3 days of out of school suspension. Whoopee...Well, enough was enough. We went straight to the sherriffs dept. and filed a simple battery charge on the boy. He will be taken to juvenille court at the end of April. The investigator has the video tape. But yet my son recieved ISS, which is a bunch of bull. This child has 6 incidents against him already this year, not only with my child. The school system did not hold the bus driver responsible in any way responsible for this even though she KNEW that the older boy was not suppossed to be sitting with my son anyways. I think it is a shame that we can't even trust our bus drivers to get our children to school safely anymore. As for the bully, he's going to bully the wrong person one day and it will all fall back in his lap. As for your incidenct,,,I know how you feel and my heart goes out to you...hope all goes well to you and remember that you can take legal action against this boy if he is in the 6th grade or above...I found all the information I needed on the internet that I needed for my state. Hope you can do the same. Someone has to stand up to these kids who think that they do no wrong and that they can pick on someone 2 times smaller than they are....take care and let me know what happens....

wth!?!?! okay that's wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy wrong for them to have punished your son, ESPECIALLY with actual proof that your son said nothing to this boy before he began to be assulted. are you able to go after the school too? lord help the admins of schools once my kids are old enough to attend, they got a "i dont take crap from anyone about anything" mommy, heads would be rolling if a situation such as this one your little one had to endure happened to one of them. btw was your son okay?

Yes,,he is ok but shaken up...scared of the boy that's for sure. I just got served the supeona where we go to court on the 29th for this juvenille. We would love to go after the school system but we are first going to try to get this child out of the school. He has had 6 offences already and Georgia LAW states that after 3 offenses that a child is to be placed in another school. Way to many chances for him. No reasoning at all in my book...will let you know what happens in court...parents sure need to be aware of this and thank goodness for videos on school buses.

been there done that. My son is also little for his age and the youngest in his class.....he is 9 and in the 4th grade weighs about 60 pounds......anyway, they kids are always trying to get him in trouble for something. Doesn't matter if he did it or not. The teachers have him labeled as a trouble maker. He doesn't do well with change......but other than that he is usually good around others that are not family.
This past week his teacher has been out due to a new baby in his house. Anyway, the sub called me yesterday and told me she was having a problem with him and his language. She wanted to make sure I would take care of it....well we did. Anyway, I told her to put him by himself for the day and make the other kids leave him alone, because they agg him on. If he is by himself he does pretty good...........does this make sense?????

anyway....something funny about bullies........my middle son who was 5 at the time was riding the bus and this 5th grader was teasing him about the way he talked and my son(jason) told him to stop. Well he didn't and kept teasing him so my son just PUNCHED him right in the nose........now if I was a 5th grader and got punched by a kindergartner I would not tell anyone about it. HE went home and told his dad that my son hit him. HIs dad called the school and was complaining about his son being hit in the nose.....and the principal said he had talked to us and we told him our side of the story, which he told that dad......when HE heard that his son was picking on a 5 year old...he started yelling at his kid and was aploogizing to the principal for calling........the kids on the bus do not bother him anymore and he is only in the 2nd grade....LOL

makes you wonder what kind of families these kids come from........oh well, I have been on the phone listening to my mom rattle on...LOL... so if this doesn't make sense.........LET ME KNOW

we have bus monitors for our preschool kids. the monitors range from 16 to 60+. i dont think a 16 yr old should do it but i think they should have to keep a monitor on ALL the buses for this reason. i cannot believe they punished your son.

i remember bullies in school. the shame of it is that most bullies get by with all they do. what are, are teachers doin? can't they see this goin on?

Well, we had the meeting at the school. One of Jason's teachers was there and 5 administrators. One of them asked what is the plan. Jason's teacher said "he is coming back to class tommorrow. I want his schedule changed where he is in my good class." She said Jason is one of the best students in the school and she wants to keep him. So that is what they did. They changed his schedule around to get him in the good classes. When he gets to school in the mornings, he goes straight to his favorite teachers class and sits there till the bell rings. So i hope everything works out.

that's a good law. never heard of it before, but i think it should be instated in every state. i'm glad i saw this thread, i wanted to know how things were going.
