I went to Best Buy yesterday to purchase a Playstation Portable, as they were opening early to sell them. Since this was the day that it was released they were taking advantage of the situation by trying to sell as many accessories and games along to those who bought the unit as possible. First I had to wait in a line for an hour while took 2 people at a time to the table where the accessories were and gave them the hard sell. While we all waited they came around twice and reviewed details of the packages you might purchase and the extended warrenty. Finally my turn came and my salesperson escorted me to the table. I knew I didn't want any extras, just the unit and I told him I was running late and would just like to purchase the unit. He insisted that he had to review the package deals and extended warrenty with me first. Well, after all this waiting ,my opinion of Best Buy was a zero and I told them that and that I didn't want to hear for the third time all of that information. He continued to insist so I said that my opinion was sinking even furthur. Then his supervisor said it was their policy and that I had to listen. I had a very negative reaction to that, so he decided that I could just buy one. He gave it to the same sales guy who then took me to yet another line to checkout. I said "Can I have it now to buy it?" and reached out to take it from him. He wouldn't let go! I couldn't believe it but he kept hanging on. I gave him quite a stare so he finally handed it over. At the checkout I experienced more pushy pressure to buy the extended warrenty and they just wouldn't take no for an answer. I said NO five times. I finally got out of there and just never want to shop there again. Where has old fashioned customer service gone? This was the worst time I've ever had shopping and I still don't believe that they have policies that not only allow this sort of treatment, but encourage it. Anyone else have a similar bad time at this store?

I've shopped at Best Buy & always had a good experience. Maybe it was like this because it was a "special" sale?

In years past I would go to Best Buy and you had to always wait in long lines they have changed that now and it works better than what they used to do. Another thing about them is trying to call the dept where you buy memory for computers. I tried to call in the past to see if they had memory for a computer we had. That dept would never answer there phone. I went as far as getting a different dept and asking the guy that answered to go over there and ask them to answer there phone. He said he couldn't do that. Best Buy is not one of my favorite stores to go to besides it is about 40 minutes from me.

If I was treated like that I would have walked out of the store and found some place else to purchase it. There is no need for them to treat you like that and be so pushy. I would have let them know that they just lost a sale and my money would be appreciated some place else.

I would write a letter to the manager of that store or go to bestbuy.com and write them. They might change their 'sales tatics' if enough people let them know about it...

I hate best buy, the people who work there have to sell a certain amount of those stupid extended warranties or they go for retraining. They can lose their job over it, so they harass you, it drives me up the wall. Sorry you had to go through that, I wouldn't shop there anymore, not worth it. I love it when they offer an extended warranty "Only $10!" on an $8 item.

I've had nothing but good experiences at the Best Buy near us. In fact I just bought a computer there last week and it couldn't have went smoother for me. The salesman wasn't pushy, he explained the warranties to me, asked if I needed anything else, accepted whatever answer I gave him and rang us up. Sorry for those that have had bad experiences at Best Buy. :(

I've never shopped at Best Buy so I can't comment on them but I can't stand pushy sales people. If I want or need help I will ask for it. I don't need someone following me around the store being a pest. I also don't like those push cart vendors at the mall. I try to avoid the first floor of the mall because of them. Thankfully they don't have them on the second and third floor.

I am upset @ best buy because of their outrageous installation costs, bought an item for $110 and they wanted $170 to install it, NO JOKE, and had to buy a sepeate thing for it work, needles to say I took it back
