First do you have virus protection on your computer? If so send it to your normal email address. I use hotmail for junk mail but my real email address is through comcast. If I get something in hotmail that won't open correctly or whatever the case may be I send it to my Comcast address then I can open it or whatever.
I ask if you have virus protection so you don't infect your pc. Once your done with this it may be a good idea to run a scan on your computer for viruses.

I found this on Hotmails site.

When you open a message attachment, it is automatically checked for viruses. In some cases, MSN HotmailSympatico Mail blocks certain types of files sent as attachments to help protect your account from viruses. You will be notified if a potentially unsafe attachment has been blocked.

1. In the open e-mail message, click the underlined text next to Attachment in the message header.
2. If HotmailSympatico Mail determines the attached file type is potentially unsafe, the file is blocked and cannot be downloaded. Otherwise, do one of the following:
* If no virus is found, click Download File.
* If a virus is found that can be cured, click Cure and Download File.
* If a virus is found that cannot be cured, the file cannot be downloaded. Reply to the sender and request a virus-free copy of the file.
* If a virus is found, the file cannot be downloaded. Reply to the sender and request a virus-free copy of the file.

Depending on the file type, the attachment will open in a separate window or the File Download dialog box will appear. If the dialog box appears, follow the instructions to open the file.

Notes

* If you receive a blank attachment, ask the sender to resend it.
* As with any virus-protection software, it may not be possible to detect all known viruses and variants. Please be aware that there is a risk involved whenever you download e-mail attachments to your computer and that, as provided in the Terms of Use, Microsoft is not responsible for any damages caused by your decision to do so. To view the complete Terms of Use document, click TERMS OF USE at the bottom of any HotmailSympatico Mail page.
