DS is in the hospital

My ex called me around 7:30 to let me know my son is in the hospital. He was here all weekend and was sick with a cough but didnt have a fever or anything. Apparently he spiked a fever so they had him on an I.V. I told him I would drive down there but its over an hour away and they werent sure what was going on yet and didnt want me to head down there just to have him released before I even got there, etc. At 8:30 I called him back and he is on his 2nd I.V. bag and his fever is going up instead of down. The have ran bloodwork on him and its all came back negative. The did some kind of flu test where they swab the inside of your nose and that came back negative too. They still havent told him if they plan to release him or keep him so he told me to hang on a lil bit longer and he'll call back. We're just afraid I will start driving down there and then they will let him go home and since its over an hours drive I should wait until he calls. I wish they would hurry up and make up their minds so I can make plans if I need to take the other kids to my brothers so I can drive down there later because DH has to work tonight.

Please send him well wishes and good vibes. Hopefully he will be feeling better soon and they will let him come home. :(

Ex just called.... they released him a little after 9:30. They pumped him full of 2 IV bags until his fever broke. Said it was a viral infection and to keep him full of liquids and home from school for a few days. Thanks for the well wishes...


Last week DD was sick and home for 2 days. Last month DD was home for 3 days and my youngest son missed an entire week of school sick. What ever this nasty bug is thats going around it can take a hike now. :rolleyes: :(

I'm glad they sent him home but I'm so sorry he's sick. :( Hopefully the IV's will help run it out of him. ((((Hugs))))

my youngest son is 23 and he just went through this.he was in the hospital for about 8 hours getting iv's he had strep pretty bad. hope your son is feeling better real soon,hugs to you,ann
