When I got my dentures, I has 28 teeth pulled at the same time while I was awake
If it makes you feel any better, I really didn't hurt for very long. Hopefully your dentist will give you some pain meds for the few days after :)
Good Luck!

I will say that when I had the first two pulled the dentist was telling jokes and I laughed through the whole thing and didn't feel anything. In fact, I had no idea they were out when he was finished.
It isn't horrible, just a bit annoying. Get it done and you will feel better!!

I always treat myself to a chocolate milk shake after dental work.
Don't use a straw...use a spoon to eat it.

Ughhhh~~~~ I just had my 1st tooth pulled YESTERDAY! The pain of getting it pulled wasn't bad @ all.. they numbed it pretty good w/ novicane. BUT they didn't tell me that I would have this awful BLOOD CLOT growing over where the tooth came out. It's totally disgusting. My DH siad not to mess with it, but I want to spit it out sooo bad. The dentist called this morning to see how I was feeling, I said I felt fine, except for this huge blood clot & they said not to mess with it, that in a few days it will go away! I took 1/2 a vicodin today & got sick twice and I can't even bruch my teeth. This totally sucks!
Ughhh.... I wish you a lot of luck. Ask your dentist not to give you any vicodin!

I have had to get one wisdom tooth removed as well. It was not fun to watch him do it, but yet....IT DID NOT HURT! The meds are AWESOME! Make sure he gives you those and you will be fine! And yes, I agree to the "frozen" treat afterwards! They are great for the after effects. I do have a few more to remove also, but will see.........lol :) good luck to you, keep us posted.

I had the worst experience... So glad they are out I ended up with dry socket and no I dont smoke and dint drink thru a straw and that caused a compliated migraine cause i have a history of them anyways and I lost feeling on one side of my body and then had to go on steroid to help with the complicated migraine and had to have the holes in my mouth stuff with gauze to help with the dry socket
Hope yours goes well

The blood clot prevents the dry socket. That is why you have to leave it alone and not use a straw. yes it is miserable , gives you a terrible taste in your mouth but it is better than lots of pain. If you are still having pain tell the doctor the vicodin causes nausea. My daughter can't take it either. There are other meds he can give you. Ibuprofen helps a lot with tooth pain.

((HUGS)) You are going to be fine wisdom teeth removal is somethign that is done all the time, I had mine done last month and the next day I was eating soft foods, follow the dentists instructions to the "T" and try to rest/relax as much as possible that will really help the healing process. I am diabetic and it went off without a hitch so you are going to do great!

I hope it goes well for you. Not everyone has a bad experience though, I have had all my wisdom teeth removed and never had a problem at all.
The biggest bother for me was probably getting the novacaine to take affect. It(novacaine) usually has no effect on me and the dentist, 9 times out of 10 gives me a stronger numbing medication.
But other than that it was fine, no pain and no dry socket either so .....good luck!

I had all 4 out at the same time and I was IV sedated. The only way to do it!! Took my Tylenol #3s and the next day, was having no problem. Slept most of the first day. About 10 days ago I had 4 teeth in the front pulled so that I can get a partial. No IV sedation, but some little blue pills I put under my tongue and they knocked me right out!! Insurance wouldn't pay for them ($55), but I GLADLY did! 10 days later and no problems (I did get a very sore throat and swollen glands the dr. says was related to the teeth coming out, but antibiotics took care of that) and even have lost 8lbs! woohoo! No dry sockets for me either and I'm a smoker! Just swish softly with warm water to keep food out of the holes in your gums.

I dont want to sound mean but everyone says oh no problem but I dont want the OP to go in and think this is goonna be a walk thru the park. Do I regret having them out? nope not one bit but I did have complications and if you have any signs of it call your dr.
I actually had 2 impacted growing sideways on the bottom the top 2 were fine but the bottoms really gave me a hard time. I was fine till one day my mouth swelled up HUGE went to the dentist they gave me antibiodics and said gee did anyone ever tell you that you teeth were growing sideways?
Get lots of rest fluids follow the dr instructions to a tee and dont hesitate to call the dr back with any questions and good luck
