The Powers to be where I live want me to run for the school board. I have to do my bio to submit to get all this started and I am no good talking nice about myself. Of course it has to be in tonight and the person I asked to help either can't or didn't, wish you all could help me, but just glad you are here for me to talk. Maybe this should be on the whine/vent board but don't think so. I have to have this stupid thing ready by 6. Don't know if I will win or not but it is truly appreciated that they thought of me. I have not ever been involved in politics and really don't care for it, but they needed someone so I said sure, if I win OMG then what will I do. I will keep you posted and thanks.

1st RELAX :) Then let your platform for the school board be what you want it to accomplish for your very own kidlettes. What does your area need - computers, a media room, improvements in the cafeteria, more permanent classrooms instead of trailers, teacher helpers/assistants, more disipline, incentives for parents to get involved in the PTA, more interaction with the parents, old fashioned "room Mothers" that supply birthday, holiday cupcakes, candy, kool-aid stuff, etc.

GOOD LUCK SWEETIE!! Get elected and go for the gusto, the grades, the student/school improvements :) :) :)

of course it would be you and thanks so much I love that. What it says that I can't figure out is the following: Anything that may be of interest or that may enhance your position as a qualified candidate"

Have you volunteered for anything at your school, the PTA, extra curricular activities (sports, cheerleading, scouts, field trips), helped with reading or a lunch buddy for the kids that need a friend, etc.?? Thos are important. Have you helped organize a talent contest, a circus, a carnival, a white elephant sale, etc. Surely you must have done something to justify them asking you to run for the board. THINK Mom, think :)

I am orgainzing a debate for our school board members. 3 seats are up and 8 are running. Funny, because that nasty grapevine tells me that board members are not interested in attending. To me, it is a shame!!

But...best of luck to you. I am on our library board and on another commission in town. I enjoy it...and stay out of the politics of it all. It is better in the long run.

List any organizational skills you have, any experiences with finances or budgets would be a big big plus. If you have attended school board meetings on a regular basis in the past list that, it shows you know what you are getting into and are already involved to a degree.

Mostly sweetie you need to have confidence in yourself. You obviously have others thinking you are capable. Now you need to think that too :) G'luck :)

Well thanks all the meeting went well and of course I was obsessing over the bio. They took the pix for the flyers and everything is done for now. Thanks for all your help and calming me down and ...well, just everything you said. I will post it when it hits the papers. Honestly I have no idea what they asked me...but guess I will see..Thanks again
