I saw on the news that something serious is coming down the pike. Hackers are going to be able to get into your private information on your computer if you aren't protected. There's all kinds of information at the microsoft site on this.
DO NOT DOWNLOAD ANY ATTACHMENT IN ANY EMAIL SENT TO YOU CLAIMING TO BE MICROSOFT!
Go to http://www.microsoft.com and scan for updates.
Hope this helps.

no matter what if someone wants your info from your computer they can get it. even the best of firewalls can be cracked, so no matter what you are at risk. i, myself have ZERO of the updates, they slow down your comp and you're still at risk no matter what.
*btw my b/f is a comp programmer/network admin and that is where i got this info*

I've been working in the field of computers for 25 years. Leaving your computer completely unprotected from everything, will insure you get a virus, spyware, malware, etc. It is true that if someone really wants something from your computer they can get in, but just like a security alarm in your house, robbers are more likely to pass up the house harder to enter.

Wow your brave! I'm a tech instructor / technology/network admin... I have NEVER come a cross anyone in this field that would recommend not having protection unless you are not connected to the internet.
I do love your username though!

Microsoft doesn't charge for their updates. They're all free. You just go to their update site, and it will scan to which ones are necessary.
