Ok I know this is dumb. I know plenty about diabetes. Gosh I used to teach patients about it. But I can not find a simple 1500 calorie ADA diet on line anywhere. I can find out all kinds of information but I just want a copy of the very simple diet with exchanges, the one that recommends how many protein servings, carb servings, fruit servings, veggies servings etc. I know it has to be here somewhere. Does anyone know where I can find it?

I don't think you can get them free anymore, but www.diabetes.org has the exchange list book for $5.95.

EMSnurse thanks, I have been to the web site and couldn't find the book you recommended. Please lead me by the hand to it. Thanks.

buglebe, go to www.diabetes.org, then on the left, choose the nutrition link, then exchange lists. Choose "show all." The pocket guide to exchange lists is at the bottom of the page. Hope this helps.

Have any of you checked out the 1500 calorie ADA popup on top page of some of our bbs pages? No I don't believe I'm gonna lose 9 lbs in 11 days and then skip 3 days and do it again but is the site worth the $27? I guess it makes meal plans etc for us. I wish they gave a trial period. $27 is a lot to pay and then have to print out the info too. But I am curious.

Make sure you read the labels on EVERYTHING you eat, for example they say have 1 glass of 2% milk, well the milk I drink is 12 grams of sugar, WOW, I had no idea milk had so much sugar did you?
