Today is the day when we close out the previous month. For me to do this, she has to close out certain things in the acct. program. boss has asked me three times this week when I am going to close out the month. She left at 9:20 am to go get supplies for the office. It is now 1 pm and she is not back. Don't think the month will get closed today!

wow you guys close early. I usually don't close the month until the 7th because I am always waiting for more invoices to come in to make sure I got them all. I'd let her know ya need to close and ask why she was gone for 3+ hours?!?

Did she ever show up? Sounds like it was a dumb day to go office supply shopping...Guess she isn't too worried about getting it done.

she walked in twenty minutes ago - said she had been Christmas shopping. She left 5 minutes ago to go to the bank - we close at4:30, so I probably won't see her again today.

The only advice I can give is, it's not your job to do hers. If these things are continuously happening, then speak with her supervisor.

I used to work in a hospital ER registration area. My boss was constantly behind on EVERYTHING and she would take it out on us. One night, I had 6 registrations waiting to be registered, plus two heart attacks that they took straight back. Since she was supposed to be doing all the straight backs and ambulances, I couldn't figure out why I was doing those. When I took the charts back, I found out that she had been outside smoking and talking for nearly an hour. The nurses and doctors thought she was helping me up front!

Needless to say, I lost my temper on my boss and told her she either needed to get her work done in the back, or come up front and help me. Her response "they won't be seen anytime soon so don't worry about it". I pretty much told her the the nature of my job was to register patients, and when she's not in her office, that's what hers was too. If she wasn't willing to do her job then I would be calling her boss on it. She flipped out, don't blame her, I was her employee and here I was telling her off. Anyway, I followed through with it. I called her boss at home on a sunday night at 10:30pm and told her what was going on. Yup, neither one was too happy about me doing that. The head of Admissions because the er supervisor wasn't doing her job, and the supervisor for tattling on her. Yeah, the supervisor made my life Heck after that, but I didn't care, I knew I had done my job.

I'm not saying take my approach on it, but I would give her fair warning on her actions. She is being paid to do a job, not go christmas shopping. Her time is hers, when she's on the clock, the time is the employers. Sounds like she needs to learn that.

Sorry to be so blunt. Didn't mean to step on anyones toes here, it's just a mood I am in I guess.

I know that woman. She works in my office. Why stay and work when you need to go to get the Clinique special or off to Lily Pulitzer for a dress that glows in the dark to wear to a party. This week she is moving into her newly built home (second one in three years that she has built) and can't possibly make it in. The rest of us have moved over weekends. Amazing...
