Does anyone think people like Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson go too far when it comes to religion? Ill post a few articles and ask for opinions

"Falwell blames liberals, gays, judges for terror(9/11)" Is this going too far? Is this not absolutly rediculous? Jerry Falwell blamming gays and liberals for terrorism?

I do not always agree with either one but on some issues I do. I think as a christian though we should focus on our own sins versus other people. God made references in the bible about while your picking on someone else because he has a splinter in his eye look at the log in your own eye. I think God was trying to remind us that we are not to condemn other people but to offer them hope through the blood of christ. God himself ( jesus ) stated he did not come to condemn but to offer salvation. I do not think that God likes sinful behavior but that does not just include the obvious sins like homosexuality , adultery etc... but also the sins that we christians commit when we deny the other people hope because we are so busy judgeing them and forget to offer them the truth. Remember sin is sin no matter if you are a murderer or you stole a pencil or you lied about something trivial God views all sin equally. It is us humans that put degrees to our sin eg... if you murder someone is that worse than telling a small white lie? according to the world yes... but in God's eyes no . Therefore we must be rather careful in our approach to judgeing other peoples sin when our own is right in front of us needing to be confessed. I look at the Son of Sam and all the people he murdered years ago and I am like there is no hope for this man , but he is now a christian who has confessed his sins. Yes God forgives even such horrible sins as that man commited but what about all the christians who sit in judgement on others ? this is horrible in God's eyes because he wants all to come to saving grace not just a select few. It is also bad to sit in judgement on christians such as Falwell because of the things they say because when you do that you become the monster that you accuse them of being...Love and peace through Jesus Christ my lord and saviour.

Depends, if they honestly believe it, then no they aren't going to far. If they are just trying to stir the pot to incite more violence against the glbt community, then they pasted too far about 30 miles back.

I think the whole theory is ludicrous, to say that God is cold, vengeful, and so callus that he would kill thousands upon thousands of innocent men, women and children because he was mad that there are homosexuals in the world. Makes Him sound like the kind of God that would say, bow down and do everything I say, or not only will you die, but I'll take the rest of the planet with you. Not the God I believe in.

The last link is taking it too far. Nor Jerry Farwell, but whoever posted that web page. It is promoting hatred. It's a waste of space.

I'm not a big fan of Jerry Farwell, but the man has never promoted violence! You can't fault a man when another takes his teachings to an extreme. And how many of us have used our beliefs as a justification for our actions!!! But I don't really understand what they are getting at. When has he ever used religion to promote voilence???

As far as the others....I don't think he went far enough. Yes, many are to blame Including the quiet good little christians who are too meek to speak up and say something is wrong.

Just because we say something is wrong doesn't mean that we are being intollerant. It is only judgemental and intollerant when you a sin in order to dislike or down right hate them.
