I would like to cheer my 6 year old daughter up with cards from nice people, while she is in the hospital for surgery. She will be going in on Dec 20, and hopefully coming home by the 23rd.

It will be bad enough for her to miss her Christmas party at school, let alone be in pain for Christmas. If you would be kind enough to send her a card, I appreciate it.

She is having ureter reimplantation, for reflux which she has has since she was an infant.

Please send cards to: REMOVED FOR SECURITY REASONS
PLEASE EMAIL ME TO GET THE ADDRESS : )
Countryluvbunnys@yahoo.com

If you can get them to her before the 19th, that would be great, as I will collect them all and give them to her in the hospital after her surgery.

Thank you all : )

I'll send her one as well, but you also might want to take your personal information out of the post and PM or email it to members who request it. Not just members have access to that information

Hello Everyone,

Thank you to all who sent card, stickers, prayers and
well wishes to my daughter. She has done much better
than I thought she would. She had surgery on the 20th at
11:30, and she was home on the 21st at 2:00. She was sore for
a few days, then on Christmas she was back to herself again.
She didn't have much pain, only needed one dose of tylenol,
and she went up steps the night she was home with no trouble.
Her major problem was pain upon urination, but that is to be expected.

We opened the cards up on Tuesday morning and it really did
cheer her up a great deal. She really didn't talk at all the 2 days
that she was there, sort of like a zombie. So those helped.

Thanks again. I hope everyone had a great Christmas and have a
wonderful happy, healthy New Year as well.

When I was 8 years old and ill in the hospital; I would have been EXTREMELY creeped out if I got a bunch of cards from people I don't know. Not to mention the fact that a bunch of strangers would know where I lived. You can never be too careful when children are involved. JMHO!

Everyone who sent cards, I have known in some way from the internt. I only gave the address to those people, and most had return addresses on the cards.

How could a child be "creeped" out by friendly cards with good wishes? She was very happy and excited to recieve the cards. She made a wonderful sticker book with all the stickers.

not everyone on the net is who they say they are and just because there is a return address doesn't mean that it's their return address. didn't you post that info before you edited it out?

Are you calling me stupid????

Yes, you are right, I did post that info. What should I be aware of now? My kids are always with me.

did i use the word stupid anywhere in my post? nope. i don't know why you would take offense to someone who was merely offering advice on being cautious. i hope that you open cards before hand to make sure some pervert doesn't send a nude photo or something

Kelly; I am just a concerned mother, nothing creepy about me! I have three children of my own, and I personally would not give out my daughter's name, age, and address to people I don't know (especially address!) Call me overprotective; that's just me! Nowadays you can not be too careful, especially on the internet, that people are who they say they are; especially when children are concerned. (If anything, I would have had cards sent to a PO box!)
And yes; I was in the hospital when I was 8. And I myself would have been a little creeped out if I'd gotten a bunch of cards from strangers! JMHO!
On a lighter note, I'm glad your daughter is doing well after her surgery; that had to be a scary thing to go through.

Where were you guys when I first posted back in November? That advice would've helped then. Now I don't think it matters, as the card shower has been over for 2 weeks now.

I posted the address for not even a day, then I deleted it. As far as giving it out over the internet, I only gave the address out to people who nicely emailed me and asked for it. I personally have dealt with most everyone who replyed in some way or another on the net, whether in this group or on yahoo groups. They were all very nice people. I know that you never know, but I think that everything was fine.

I think it would've been wrong to say what hospital she was in or something like that.

Don't we give out our address to people when we trade? Besides I have seen people have birthday card showers all the time.

I only posted again to thank everyone for sending things. I didn't think I would get so much negativity, after the fact of all things.

i know a lot of people participate in card showers and swaps, but i personally don't feel comfortable giving out my real name and address to even people i've talked to on the net for a very long time. call me paranoid, but you never know when this information could bite you on the behind.

Ok, you're not paranoid. What's done is done, I can't go back, but I have learned my lesson, so let's just give up on this ok????
