You poor dear. You have tried so hard and your heart is so big for such a wonderful cause - OUR TROOPS. Maybe if you ask the grocery or drug stores they will let you put a glass jar at the counters with a note on the jar what the money is for. Use manyonaise or pickle jars and tie red/white/blue ribbons or yarn around the top of the 'quart' jars. Set some in your church. Call a reserve center or VFW to see if they can help ship them. Good luck hon. Sometimes life isn't lways fair but it's worse for our troops. Hang in there. Please :)

I want to thank you for what you are doing. my son is in Iraq. It seems to me people would want to help our troops overs there but if they dont have family over there then some people just dont know how bad it is over there..some are bathing with orange-brown water like my son and they tell them dont get it in your mouth, and the heat is unbearable..120 and over..god bless you..
hugs,
Marcia

Is there a USO near you? If so, you could ask them if they could send the items to the troops. Also, if you are near a base, you can try and contact the OMBUSMAN (hope I spelled that write) and they will be able to get the items over to the deployed troops.

If I can help, let me know :)

Also contact your local service organizations such as the Shriners, Elks, American Legion and see if they will make a small donation. I bet they will.

i live in a little town and we have to drive one hour to get anywhere around here...my church is going to pay for it but it just wasn't the point I wanted the community to get involved and help!

wow that sounds so high for shipping on these 5 boxes. I have sent boxes to my son that have weighed 50 lbs and was only charged around 15 to send it. Are you sending to an FPO/APO addy?
I am glad to hear of this project you are doing its wonderful. More folks need to be aware of the hard times are troops face over there and the lack of "comforts" they have. So many things we take for granted they have non of. How many times I had to send my son just food and water so he wouldnt go hungry was unreal. Clean clothes is another thing that is so scarce over there. On one of the web sites last year they had a little portable washing maching for around $50 shipped that used very little water. I had that sent to the unit and you would think they had been given a millon dollars.

Try the local VFW, AMerican Legion, DAR..any military associations. I'm sure they'd be glad to help or take up a donation. Maybe you could put a coin jar on the bar (I think all these places have bars where the vets hang out).

I would change boxes if I were you.. once it leaves the states headed for the military mail system.. priority means nothing.. no sence in wasting all that money on shipping.. just go to a grocery store and get plain boxes...shipping will be lots cheaper

Agree with this. Average cost to ship to Troops is only $1.00 per lb. Sending anything but regular mail is not going to matter to the military, only to the PO who is making the big bucks off you shipping priority which I believe costs somewheres in the $3.95 a lb.aera. Big difference in pricing.

Yes as long as you BLACKOUT the writting, use large printed out lable for shipping. Also dont for get that you will have to fill out custom forms for EACH box you send. On this some PO require you to list everything in the boxes meaning EX: pens, papers, readers diagest, chips, crackers ect..... not food, supplies, clothes and magazines. Do not buy insurance unless you are seending something really expensive as again it wont matter. mail gets lost in the military all the time, things get blown up, you get my drift. Hopr this helps.
Thanks for doing this!!
