I was asked to qualify for an online bulletin board - was going through the standard opening stuff when they asked me what religion I was. I was a bit put off by the question, but I answered. The next words out of her mouth were "Sorry, that disqualifys you". Now I realize that their clients set the qualifications for surveys, but I still feel like I was discriminated against. What do you think?

Maybe it had something to do with the type of research they were doing. They also may have met the quota for your religion. I wouldn't take it personally. Sorry you didn't get in though.

sorry that you didn't get in........did you ask them why they turned you down at that point?

I asked what religions qualified and she told me "all of them but yours". I guess I am just confused what product or idea they could possibly be researching that depended on ideas based on what church you went to. I am so nosy - I wanna know!

Try going to their contact page or a phone number and pester them til they give you an answer. I wouldn't let them get away with it.

I don't see where they are getting away with anything. They set the parameters for some surveys very strictly. Maybe it was a study for a particular teaching tool that is not used with your religion, maybe it is something to do with a summer program that only certain religions ran, who knows. Better luck next time.

To be fair, I have to post this. I got a very nice e-mail from them explaining why I was disqualified. First, they only wanted 48 people. second, it was my church "hosting" the panel - they wanted other opinions. I feel stupid now for getting upset!
