How do you use a printer with a pc fax?

I'm thinking of getting a Lexmark printer with a pc fax, but i can't find anything on how to use it. Anyone got one, use it?

We have one of the 3 in 1's that they sell. We've never used it as a fax machine though. I think you have to have a fax line first. And maybe scan stuff then send it as a fax?
