Ok, I get my 7 y/o grandgirl today. Go to enroll her in school and they want us to go to court and have court papers that state that we have guardianship. What we have are notarized documents from the state because there was no need to go to court as there was no conflict..... I can't afford to go to court!!
So now we have the GG and she has no school to go to because she HAS to go to the school in our district (can't transfer out, already tried) but the district will not accept the papers that we have.
Another reason we don't want to go to court is because GG's biological father has not seen her since the day she was born and trying to get child support is a nightmare... everytime the state finds where he is working and garnishes his check, he quits his job... rumor is that he is now in another state. Anyhow Oklahoma is one of those states that believe the kids should be with their biological parents and the temp guardianship thing is only temporary MAYBE a year and we are afraid that the court will want us to try to find biological... know what I mean?
The papers we have ARE legal, we just didn't go through the courts to obtain them.
So now if she doesn't go to school, we can be fines, but the school won't take her!!!
In tulsa district all they need it a letter (not even notarized) from the parent saying where the child is staying and thats it... this district is EVIL and I can't wait to get as far away from it as SOON possible!
The ONLY thing I can do at this point is to put GG back in her old school and not even say anything about her living here.... but then I have 3 girls in three different schools who all start and get out at the same times! One rides a bus, but I can't be in 2 different places at one to pick up DD & GG.
I think I am going grey
