BIG BIG Stupid Whine...

A couple of whines here...

A) Financially, we're not doing well right now. Well, we're usually not doing well, but we've done better and right now it's baaaad. Thus, I got a second job yesterday (will be working weekends as front desk reception at a new hotel) and DH is looking for a weekend job for himself also.

B) Due to financial restrictions, I haven't been able to purchase a new multifunction (I need one for work purposes as I work from home). I have one that I bought for $250 while in college. I loved it until I got my Dell computer last year. The scanning function is not compatible so there goes that feature. Also, if the machine doesn't 'take' the paper on the first try, I have to shut down the entire computer and printer and restart everything in order to try and print it again. So...

C) I find an INCREDIBLE deal today for a 5 in 1 multifunction printer that I can purchase with saved survey money (this is how I also purchased my kick-butt digital cam a few months ago). Its the Brother MFC 3220c and was being sold at Office Depot.com for $98.00. It had $50 in rebates, $20 code for online orders and free shipping, making it a total of $28!!!! I was so excited! THEN, I go to check out, and in the time it took me to verify my cart contents, the thing was out of stock!!! I was soooo ripped! To me, having the item in your virtual cart is the same as having it in your real shopping cart. For it to suddenly be 'out of stock' when I go through the checkout is equivalent to some other shopper walking up to me in the store and stealing it out of my cart! This may be petty, but I'm so upset. Things like this always seem to happen to me. I dont' know if, when or where I'll ever find a deal as good as this again and I really need a new multifunction printer. I can't believe that this happens!

((HUGS)) I dont think that your vent is petty at all, I have no idea what a multifunction is but you said you needed it for your job, so if you dont have a reliable working one you cant work and you lose $, I understand that as least.
I hope that your new job goes well, I hope that you like it, hopefully you wont have to keep it for long, buy your new multiofunction and tuck some away for a rainy day, pay a couple of bills etc. Expressing your frustration by whining is never stupid, I dont see a lot of posts by you in this category, usually you are the supportive one not the one needing support. So good luck hun and take care, keep up updated and I hope everything works out

Do you have an Office Depot near you? If so, call them and see if they have one in stock. Get the manager on the line and tell him about the $20 online code that you were unable to use because it showed it was out of stock. He may take that off for you. Also, you can pick up the mail in rebate info while you are there. Give it a shot.

It's not that they won't ship it to me, it's that online its out of stock. I'm not sure if they have it at your local store, if you even have one...

Ok, see I put it in my cart, it says it is in stock and that it would be delivered to me on 10/04. If they can ship it to me, then I don't see why they can't ship it to you. Maybe it will work.

You're right! When I put in your zip, it does come up as available! My zip (04086)still says out of stock. Wonder why that is? They told me on the phone (cust. svc) that it was out of stock indefinately...what do u think is up?

Hey, how about calling the store here locally that has it in stock, tell them what is going on and ask if they will let you use your coupon code and see if they will let you pay for it and ship it out to you from there, maybe they can do that. Here is the number (252) 321-5542

Your whine isn't wrong...or petty. I admire the fact you and the dh are trying to help yourselves and work at part-time jobs in addition to whatever you do during the week! I know the economy has not been kind to New England. (I love Maine, but the jobs are so scarce and the winters too harsh).

I know how difficult it is on your family's finances when you have a child. We went through a lot of problems when my dh was born. A month later my dh was let go from his job and unable to collect unemployment insurance. (long and dull story).

Di, thank you for the kind words. Adam works at a mortgage company and I do home daycare as well as lots of mystery shopping and surveys. I'm so thankful to have found a weekend job (even though I'd rather spend the time with Adam and A v e r y!). Hopefully Adam can find one waiting tables (that's what we both used to do--together). That brings in pretty good money. If we can at least get caught up, a little of the stress will be lifted.

Having a baby is so much responsibility (thankfully, we knew that beforehand). We knew it was going to be costly as well, and it is. Luckily, I breastfeed so there's no need to buy formula and we've only had to buy one or two packages of diapers out of our regular budget money since she was born in July due to receiving them as gifts at both of our baby showers (yep, his work gave him one too!) and because any $ that we received at her showers we saved ONLY for her expenses. :)

Try e-bay or Amazon. You would be surprised at how many things turn up there.
I tried to buy a special import CD once, but the store only ordered one copy and it was gone before I got there. They said they could order another, but it would take 3-4 weeks and I would have to pay for shipping.
So I ordered the same CD for amazon.uk, paid less and got it in a week. :)

Believe it or not, we are fellow mystery shoppers. I have been working as an independent contractor in MS and merchandising now for almost 3 years. I love it. Small world.

:) I'm glad you've been able to use my daycare materials!! I'm always happy to pass them on. I have lots if you need them (accident forms, contracts, enrollment forms, dismissal forms, medication authorizations & a waiver for use of a swimming pool) :)

this sounds good-i know we went one time to od & was getting a few things -dh went to get something for the computer & when i told him i checked it out on the computer & we could get an extra rebate the manager heard me said to bring in the paper from the computer & he would honor it-i just went to one of their's (asked first)pulled up paper work & he honored it :)
