...My 16 yr old brother is testing for his driver's license as I type this. I soooo hope he passes. We really need for him to be able to get himself to and from work. He got a job at a convenience store making $7/hr, 35 hrs a week. Not bad for 16, eh? Now he just needs his license! DH's work has changed a bit and now he can't take off to get little bro home from work. Please keep your fingers crossed for Gabe today!
Thanks!

crossing my fingers that Gabe gets the dl today. Shoot, at 16 I could only wish to get a job for 7/hr. I think I was making 6.50 when I started, I cant even remember now its been so long ago. Congrats to Gabe on the job!!!

Heck, I'm a SAHM and haven't had a"real job" since I was a teenager. I an't even find a job that pays that well! They hired him on the spot. He's pretty excited. Thanks for the wish for luck. I know he will be crushed if he doesn't pass.

is he home yet?? did he get them?? waiting to hear the good news!!!!
I hear ya with the working situtation. I started working a real job at 16 and worked up until a couple of years ago. My husband wants me to stay at home with the kids instead of paying for child care on top of all the bills we've got. Which was NOT fine with me at first, but I'm a little more used to it now. I still feel bad not contributing financially to the family, but he said taking care of the kids 24/7 is job enough and to not worry about it. But I do, I only have a couple more years of feeling this way though. Zach will start school in 2007, so about 2 1/2 more years. lol

They would not let him test because the passenger side door handle isn't working properly. Now we get to figure out how to get a new one and get it installed. (normally it would be fairly simple but this car is trickier).
He's bummed and we are in SUCH a bind now.
Ugh!

Bummer on the door handle. Think positive. Tomorrow will be a better day. Maybe he can mow a few lawns or rake leaves, wash windows, do handy man type stuff to earn some extra coins to help fix your car door handle. Does anyone have a mechanic friend with a few tools? Best of luck.

Have you tried a salvage yard? It would be a lot cheaper than getting the part from a dealer.
I was not allowed to take my test because the horn did not work. It is considered a safety device. I thought about telling the driver my finger works just fine, but I do not think she would be amused.

Nana, he has the money to cover it and it's on his car, not ours. He can't test in ours because it's a stick. He can only drive an automatic :)
Justine, Gabe will get a chuckle out of your response. The dealership gave him the handle and said they'd put it on if he brought it back in, but Gabe's dad didn't tell him he only had 30 days to take it back in and that time has lapsed. Now he has to pay for it. Ugh! I won't even go into how his dad supposedly has him covered on his insurance but didn't give him the current insurance card, so Gabe didn't know it but had been driving on an expired insurance card. The insurance was paid, but the card was not current. ARgh!
