Thanks to Jeanne, I now have a lake house! Anyone want to come see the 4 inches ( and rising) of water in my basement? What a mess :(

Wanna borrow my swimmies? I have 2 pair. I only need one pair to float to my mailbox at the road :D

Wow, that stinks....we are finally getting some of the Jeanne weather up here....expecting bad showers again later....(probably when I go out to get my son at the bus-stop...) Well, hey, I bought that new umbrella for something.

Take care all you drenched Southern people!!!

Yep, me too. Schools were closed today because so many roads were flooded out. It did stop raining around noon here, so maybe they will go tomorrow.

I totally feel your pain! The river crept up on our roads quick here in Roanoke, VA. My mom had to go pick up my DS from school because we were trapped on our road. Here are some pictures from the end of our road (Scary stuff!!)

I'm in Waynesboro-2 hours north of Roanoke. I did end up with over 6 inches of water, but hubby came home and we got everything up off the floor. We used 2 shopvacs and got most of it cleaned up fast-I just want to clean everything today. The kids got out of school an hour early- the middle school and high school both had water in them. My town is just not meant to handle water-the streets and drains fill up fast and there is nowhere for the rain to go.
Thanks for all the nice replies. All in all we fared better than our friends in Florida-my heart really goes out to them.

You do have to look at the funny side when it happens. The last time, I was bailing water into the sink and the litter box when floating by, and it just struck me as hilarious.

Sorry to hear that - I hope everything works out...

Did the other two come your way?

We got rain from Charley, Frances, and Ivan, but nothing like we got from Jeanne. Isabel visited us last year.
