WOW, congrats.
Depends on what family member you want to tell, I wanted to hang booties in DH's car, but, he was always there when I took my tests, so I didn't get to suprise him.

well, with sammy. i did this:
i found out i was pg about the same time as you. we waited until we had an ultra sound done and went to kinkos and made 2 copies. we put 1 in each christmas card for my mom and his mom and they found out that way. it would not work i guess if you show early, but it went over really good with eeryone. the only thing was my mom was mad at me for keeping it from her for 3 months!! we tell each other EVERYTHING so it was hard. if you do not want to wait that long, have a halloween supper and give them a halloween card with it. good luck!!

CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Do you have another kiddos? You could take there pic and then put it in a pic 2 sided pic frame and on the empty side put a note saying spot saved for pending arrival due 11-11-11.
You could wrap up a baby bottle and give it to someone for a gift.

If there is a gift giving event coming up (Christmas if you want to wait that long) you could get the grandparents something with World's greatest grandma (or similar) and wrap it up and let them open it.
My old boss's daughter did that for father's day - he loved it.

We bought 4 pairs of baby booties - 2 pink and 2 blue. Gave one of each color to our parents a few days after the doctor said we were going to have a baby. This was way before ultra sound. They were so excited. When first one was born, she was a 7 mth. baby on New Years day. When we called my parents, they thought we were playing a joke.

Buy a few at home pregnancy tests and take them and mail them to the people you want to tell. lol You can even get some at the dollar tree for $1.00 each. ;)

I knew a couple who waited till the first ultra sound and had it blown up and framed then had pictures of themselves taken holding the framed ultra sound at walmart. and had christmas cards made out of them. too cool. course it only works if you won't be showing by christmas or if they got an ultra sound to see how far along she was.

Invite everyone to a birthday party on the due date.
When they ask who it is for, you can say we will find out just before you do.

Congrats. Have the florist deliver the grandparents balloons and a rose to the grandparents to be. You would not have to wait to long for them to find out that way. Congrats

We found out with baby #1 just before Father's Day. Gave both Grandpas-to-be
a cute grandfather card from baby "due in February." It was fun.

for family I think giving them something like "world's greates _____" as for friends, I don't have any clues. BTW CONGRATULATIONS!!!

When I got pregnant with my son, my first, dh and I went and bought cards from grandma, grandpa, to baby. We give them that and told them we want these back on the babys due date. It confused them at first, but it turns out to be a nice keepsake too when baby is born. As for for friends,uh, no clue. but I liked the idea of an invitation to a party on your due date.

Thanks everyone for your creative ideas, i really appreciate them! However... i was much too excited to do much of anything creative so we just stopped at our parents houses to share our good news, of course i was crying like a running faucet, i'm so flippin' excited!! For the friends and other relatives, i found a very cute baby announcement e-card to send, that i personalized with a message. Most people are surprised because of our ages (38 and 43 when the baby will be born!) but are truly excited for us! We also have two grandbabies, one thats only a month old!! :p
Thanks again! :D
