ok for the last month ive been gaining weight. mainly in my abdomen. some in my breast. so much weight gain that i needed to go from a loose 8 pants to a tight fitting size 10. for the last 3 weeks i have been working out. almost 5 miles a day on the treadmill, step and bycicle. some people say thyroid. i just read .... and i have totally freaked myself out now.. ovarian cancer.
i am calling the doctor tomorrow. this has been going on for 2 months. first is was 10 lbs in the month of august now its 5 more lbs...
i had a period two weeks ago.. it seemed normal.
i am totally freaking now... i think i need positive thoughts prayers and ideas...
my last gyn visit was in april...
ok going to try to go to bed now.. i am still freaking... ready to cry...
ovarian cancer is a scary term.... makes thyroid problems seem pale...
praying i get an appointment tomorrow...
toodles...

I don't mean to be intrusive, but how old are you?
The onset of menopause is the most likely explanation--even if you are not yet old enough to go through it, it could be the very first hormonal fluctuations. Your period seemed normal and that's a good sign that it isn't cancer.
It's normal to be scared but you'll most likely be fine.

Hugs to you....I know what you are going through.. I am a few years older than you but this all started with me when I was about 33/34...I remember my son was maybe a year old. We were living in England. For the first time I had my period for about 10 or 12 days and it was bad. I went to the gyno and all was okay. Then after that, I would have one or two months where it was bad. This has kept me running to the doctor for the last 4 years. Anyhow, a lot of things can cause weight gain. Are you watching your sodium? That can make you bloated. Stress also adds on the pounds. You may even have an ovarian cyst or fibroids...there are so many possible things. You will get a blood test and find out. Maybe they will do a sonogram on you.
I agree, do not keep checking medical pages about what MAY be wrong. You will drive yourself crazy.
Take care and keep us all posted!!!

I know that PCOS causes weight gain around the middle. Do you have any other symptoms? I hope it's nothing serious.

on a lighter note, do you think that you MAY be pg? i do not know about the patch, but i had a friend that was on the depo shots, with a 99.9 % rate, and she now has three kids instead of two!! she still had her periods, bc the shot kept her going. the only way she found out she was, she went to the dr for a gyn check up!!!!
something to think about maybe???

This was my first thought - possibly pregnant. A period doesn't mean not pregnant all the time. I had 3 kidlettes and never missed one blooming period. Bummer for me.
Wonder if the fellas are reading this :p

OOh I was gonna say, is it POSSIBLE that you could be preggers?
I have heard that the patch isnt always effective, just like the pill...
how long have you been on the patch? is it possible that the weight gain is FROM the patch?

I know you wanted to be pg...:( Sorry! I remember I was your age and having some problems and Aunt Flo was a week or 2 late (odd for me). Took several pg tests...nervous as heck...negative....Part of me was VERY sad. Once you come to the point when you will have no more kids, you get very blue. People still ask me if I am having any more. Guess one kid is not enough! :D
Take care...:)
