Another member here just PM'd me askin if I had sent her an email. Seems she got one that supposedly came from one of my email address but it was empty of text and just had an attatchment. I did NOT send her an email. Obviously someone is changing the "who from" when sendin emails and put mine in their place. So my question is there any way to stop it or report it?? TIA for your help and advice. Oh, I did tell her it wasnt from me and to delete it.

Jen

You could have a virus that automatically sends mail from your account.
A while back I kept getting bounced email notices in my yahoo bulk folder. I thought they were virus' or worms so I was deleting them....found out someone had hacked my account and was using it to send worms and spam.

It's probably a virus. Not your fault...fatesfairie, you probably just had a virus as well rather than someone hacking your account. Although a Trojan Horse is in theory a back-door hack, it's not a personal thing, it's all done by a program.

Nope no virus. I ran it just before gettin online yesterday and then saw her message. Plus, shes not in my address book, and I dont think I have ever emailed her. I have McAfee and it automatically downloads anytime there is an update as soon as I log online. Thanks for the help though.

My problem wasn't a virus. It may have been a trojan that I had already gotten rid of. As soon as I changed my password it stopped.
You may want to do an online scan at http://housecall.trendmicro.com/housecall/start_corp.asp I've had it find trojans on my system that Norton didn't catch.

This type of virus is generated through people's address books. All it takes is one person to not have their virus program up to date and they have your email address in their address book.

It could have been sent unknowingly from anyone's address book that you are listed in without their knowledge.

The sad part about this type of virus is that you will get accused of being a spreader when in actuality your computer is protected and up to date, and it's not your fault at all. :(

Also try running Adaware. I had 2 trojans on my computer and adaware picked up on them.

Also you may want to run spybot.
