 I am buying a book on ebay. I bought a heavier book last week and it cost about $2 to ship by media mail. The seller is chargin $7 ship. What the  . I thought i could buy it, but $7 for shipping something that costs less than a $2 to ship? :( I'm wondering what is going on on ebay, the shipping charge is 4 times the fee for the book. Jeez, i wouldn't be complaining if the shipping was $5, but $7? that is more than the price of the item itself.

That goes on alot on Ebay any more. People up the cost of shipping so they don't have to pay more in the fees. They're not suppose to do it but they do.

I'm also buying a few books from Ebay. I don't bid or use Buy It Now if the shipping is too high. If it's a book I really want, I will email the seller and ask if they will send it media mail to reduce the shipping cost. I just did this, as a matter of fact, and the seller said yes and it will be much cheaper to ship.
Also, you might want to look on Half.com and see if they have the book you want any cheaper than on Ebay. I also buy and have bought many books from there and have been very satisfied.

I had seen a book on ebay a while back that I would of liked to have. The seller had the price starting at 99 cents but he was charging $5 for media mail. It was a flat rate. That is what he charges everyone no matter how big or small the book is. I thought that was outrageous and of course didn't bid on the book. He could of sent it priority for only $3.85 and I would of gotten it within a couple of days. There was no way I was going to pay $5 for media mail. That is ridiculous. A couple of people from here suggested I report him to ebay so that's what I did. He had posted in his listing that the shipping was non negotiable and if someone had a problem with the shipping charges not to bid. I thought that was kind of rude. Obviously people must have been complaining about the shipping rate and that's why he puts that in his listings.

I would absoluty refuse topay that kind of shipping. I wouldn't bid if shipping was that high. If I won an auction and didn't realize the shipping was that outrageous, I still wouldn'tpay it and just simply accept bad feedback. I know thats wrong but so isn't charging that much for shipping.
