I usually wake up about an hour before I wake the kids up, so I can wake up and get a few cups of coffee in me... I woke the kids up a little early this morning so we could all have breakfast together at the table for once. When I woke the baby up (ok, shes 7 lol) she sat up and started crying and said her hair was stuck to her ear... well being the horrible mom that I am, I told her to go ahead and get up and wash her face and she'd feel better (I thought maybe she had just been sweating while she slept and her hair got a little matted) so she goes into the bathroom and SCREAMS - I run in there and look and her ear is FULL of dried blood! I asked her if her ear hurt and she said no, so I clean it up as good as I can and call her Dr. and we can't get in until 10:15 :(

Shes had such horrible trouble with her ears. She will get infections and no one knows it until they are really BAD... they don't bother her and she has no pain, which makes it super hard to tell if she has one. She just got her 2nd set of tubes last march :( Her ear drum burst last year on halloween (some of you may remember that post) and I don't think that thats what has happened this time.. I do not know what would make her ear bleed like that. At breakfast, blood started running down the side of her face :( When her eardrum burst last year, it was fluid w/ just a little tinge of blood.. this is ALL blood, no fluid.

I thought we might go to the ER instead of waiting for the Dr appt, but shes in no pain and not running a fever. She acts fine except for the bloody ear :(

She has tubes to help her hear better, and she has never had any problems until she first got them.

Will update when I get back.....

I hope everything turns out to be ok!

Hang in there! Sometimes it's more traumatic for the mom than the "baby"!!

Wow I know you were flipping, I would have been also. My oldest did the terribleear infection thing when he was little, never knew he haditgoing on until he was in a feveral seizure...his temp would spike like that. We did the tubes and the quack of a doctor left them in for 2 and a half years (same set) one came out on its own at the 2 year mark and the other at 2 and a half, when the last one came out and he went to the doc to be checked it had left a hole in his ear drum...grrrr...I had begged this man to remove the tubes earlier to no advail...anyways, they did surgery and made him a new ear drum (different doctor..lol) and has never had trouble since. I am sorry to take over here just wanted to share. I will pray for your "baby" tell her Santa is thinking about her. Please let us know ASAP that she is just fine...one more thing, could a sinus infection cause this?

We are back.. her eardrum burst... again! :(

I do not know what to do, she has a 70% hearing loss w/o the tubes and now shes having all of these problems with the tubes :(

Her dr's exact words were "boy, shes a mess!" (this is her primary care dr, not her ENT) so now she has to go back in 7 days and then she has to go to back to the ENT in 2 weeks. The tube in the bad ear has come out (obviously) so I am not sure if we are looking at hearing aids in the future or what :(

Just wanted to update you guys.

Luckily, she was not in pain this time... last year was AWFUL!!! She cried for hours and then once the eardrum burst she screamed for about 10 seconds and then that was it! Once it was over, she didn't even ache a little.

I am thankful this time around that she didn't go through all of that... hopefully there won't be a next time!
