My husband had gall bladder surgery almost 2 weeks ago. It was laparscopic. Today he told me he was really sore around the main incision spot. It is very bruised. Well, when he laid down on the bed today there was a really big knot about an inch to the right of the incision. It was really hard too. Well, we got him ready to go to the drs office and got almost there and the knot was gone. Well, its back, not as big, but just as sore. Yesterday he was doing some laundry and Im afraid he lifted too much. Any ideas what this is?

I am thinking maybe a small hernia? I would definatly have it checked out on monday, sooner if it gets bigger.

I agree it needs to be checked out it could be a hernia or it could be a hematoba(sp) but it needs checking and tell him to remember he might be feeling better but he did just have surgery and needs alot of R&R and alot of water! I know I just have a hysterectomy less than a week ago and I feel great until I over do it.!

I agree with everyone above. it most definately sounds like a hernia.

Thanks for all the answers! My husband has an appointment a week from Monday for his 2 week follow up from the surgery (will be more like 2 1/2 weeks, but anyway...) He wants to just wait until then to talk to the doctor as he says it is sore, and tender, but not terrible pain. Is that reasonable or should we make him go sooner?

If it gets bigger or hurts more then make it sooner.
