I'm just curious as to why people sell DVD's w/o cases! And why does someone charge a $15 flat fee to ship one dvd?!?!? Can anyone answer this to me? Obvioulsy I would not buy a dvd w/o a case and I WILL NEVER pay $15 let alone over $5 to have ONE freaking dvd shipped but am curious as to why people would do this. Thanks for letting me vent... I just wish there were other bidding sites out there so it wasn't all one monopoly. (no flaming please!)

People charge it because they can I guess, whether its against the rules or not, and believe it or not, someone, somewhere will pay that wild price. There are other auction sites besides ebay out there. BBS has auctions, ubid, momsbid, msn autions, yahoo auctions, do a google search and you will see there are lots.

That's why I always make sure to know how much is charged for shipping. Amazing how much some people charge.

I think i read some where that the reason is some people start the auctions at a very low price and charge extreme amounts on shipping is because ebay doesn't charge a percentage on the shipping cost only the final bid price. That way they make more money on there auctions.

The only thing I can think of is they figure it might be cheaper to send it without the cover. Either that or they just don't have the cover anymore. Some people buy those plastic covers and use those to store their cd's and dvd's instead of the original packaging but other than that I have no idea. Also if you think someone is charging too much shipping you can report them to ebay. A lot of sellers charge high shipping amounts to try and avoid paying ebay's fees and it's against the rules.

You are right... there are lots, but most of them always go back to ebay... Like msn you can go to ubid or ebay and the other ones don't have what i'm looking for. :o :(

Thanks for letting me get this out!

I think part of it may also be because they can kind of "get ya" if you don't pay attention. Like if you see something, especially newer people to Ebay, and say whoaaa... only $2 with 1 minute left to bid! You bid really quickly, then realize the shipping was like $15.

There is also www.bargainandhaggle.com There you haggle with the seller on the price. Has a lot of nice stuff, you should check it out. :)

Thanks everyone... I was thinking and I wonder if why people sell dvd's w/o cases is b/c they copy them and they keep the case and the copy and sell the original? that's pretty low in my opinion if that is what they are doing.

FYI, I know these tricks, advice: look at the fedback rating, read some of those comments, ask seller ??, in this case, copied, or not, case or none, and remember READ the seller's terms, Ebay got big fast, back in the "day", it was a great place and now a ZOO of sorts, never assume it is a great deal unless you have read the above, gotten your ?? answered, see perhaps other pictures and are satified with the sellers feedback and ratings. I recently almost bought POLO Jeans, great, I asked what year they were made, and they were from 1990, ICK, I wanted what was listed, this circa, turns out, not, so I didn't buy them, if I had, I would have been stuck with old style jeans which I was not looking for at all..so be specific in your wants and needs.
Just my 2 cents...

I bid on a book and the owner said free shipping. After the auction, i got an invoice with $5 shipping via standard shipping. I was angry adn felt cheated. If i had known she didn't mean the free shipping, i would have bid on something else which could have saved me money. I really felt angry.
