Just found out today DD school user fees are going up another $10, so her user fee will be $30.00. And will need the following school supplies....

FOURTH GRADE SUPPLY LIST

2 Packages #2 Pencils
1 Pair Scissors

2 Green Ink Pens
1 Bottle Elmer’s Glue – 4oz. or Glue Stick
1 Box Crayola Crayons – 24 Count
2 Highlighters
2 Packages Notebook Paper
2 Wireless Notebooks (Adhesives bond)
6 Solid color pocket folders
1 Package Crayola Markers
1 Permanent Marker (Sharpie) - Black
3 Boxes of Kleenex
1 Assignment Notebook (Must be purchased from *****)

1 Vis-a-Vis Marker

Supplies are reasonable....

DS school user fee is $61 this includes $30 fee, $13 for Gym uniform, and $18 for industrial art, home economics, and another thing or 2. Not sure of all his supplies yet, but not expecting it to be to bad.

Also today in the mail I receive a large envelope from DS schools with gym uniform order form, a copy emergency contact info to verify, student attendance form, and a magnet. This got me to thinking of what a waste of money this was, so I checked into a few thing. After checking with neighbor to see if her older kid ( couple of grade ahead of my son) received the same type of thing, which she did. I looked up the following info from our districts website.

Theres approximatley 6,189 student in 7th - 12th grade. Total district enrollment is about 14,218. Also our district is the 10th largest in the state of Ohio.

The packet I received today cost .83 to mail, not including lg brown envelope, printing lable etc. 6,189 X .83= $5,136.87 !!! Factor in envelopes, labels, ink and manpower on top of that figure.

Just kind of annoyed me.... these are papers we could of picked up when we pick up clsas schedules and return once school starts. Nothing was super important that couldn't wait with maybe the exception of the gym uniforms needing to be ordered...... which we could of done in the previous 2 newsletters the school has sent during the summer in addition to the new packet.

And yet the school district just doesn't understand why voters have voted NO 3 TIMES on the building of a 3rd high school. I'll add this to my list of reasons to countinue voting no come November.
