My dh erased my cookies on accident, now I can not get into my hotmail account, and I have to sign into bbs like every 10mins ( mainly if I am typing something really long. I have to log in evrytime I go to any of the sites I normaly visit. Some of them won't even come up.
The reason he did is because he thought he was on my sons account. My niece had given my 8yr old son a web site , for role playing. It was about vampires. He can go there and make up his own charaters. I looked it up on my account to see what it was about. A place where you can chat with different people online and role play with them, NOT MY SON. So I left the site up for my dh to look at and went over to yell at her about it, came back my dh says he woun't be looking at it anymore I erased his cookies. I was like that was my account and said opps!!! O well. At least my son can't look at it I threw the paper in my niece face and told her to keep her role playing crap.

Couple things....
You can get a program called "Cookie Terminator" which will handle your cookies for you. You can protect the cookies you want, and delete the others with one mouse click. I believe they offer a free trial period, or you can look on www.download.com for something similar.
Second... My youngest daughter (20) roll plays in college (favorite lines: "Am I in the room????" - "But you're not THERE!). I do agree that your son being eight years old is way too young for that particular crowd. I can assure you that there isn't anything evil or weird about roll playing. Its mainly just acting out sci-fi characters you make up yourself. When you get into it, its really fun. However, the group your son was looking at may have been way too adult for him.
As a compromise, it may be possible to find a roll playing group in his age range online, or maybe he can start one with his own friends. There are tons of books out there on it, age specific, that will give the game a little structure.
