I got my discover bill in the mail yesterday....no biggie.....wrong!!! I have NEVER used my card! But lo and behold, there was a charge on there. I called discover, spent a ton of time on the phone being bounced around and guess what! Someone got ahold of my credit card number and started charging things. Nope, wasn't my family members or anyone in my house. This was all done on the internet. Soooooo....that account is closed, the fraud department is now involved and I made a police report. Luckily, they didn't get more than $200---there was only two charges on there. One was for jcpenney and the other was a porn site I think. Discover told me I wouldn't be responsible for it and the investigation would take 90 days. Ughhhhhhh...what a hassle. Why do people have to do this!!

Thats why I purchase those prepaid visa gift cards to use when i want to order something off the internet. That way i don't have to worry about someone messing with my stuff.

Here is an article about Net attacks on banking data: http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=1804&e=3&u=/washpost/a16023_2004jun29

After I read it I went to Microsofts webpage and installed the critical update patch for it.

My DH had a Discover card that never arrived, but a bill did. It was near Xmas & we lived in apts where the mail boxes were close together. We think someone got the card meant for DH. They simply went down the road to the nearest mall & spent a cple of thousand in a store we'd never been able to afford. It's a high-priced mens clothing store. We didnt have to pay anything, but we were mad that someone would do this. Discover decided it wasnt worth the expense of trying to track the person down. But at least we werent out any money.

Click on Retailers.

I have one and use it for EVERYTHING. I pay my bills online with it, make purchases online with it, I even use it at the gas pumps so I dont have to go inside.

EXCELLENT IDEA! I never even thought of that. I will have to start doing that.

also....for those of you who have had your cards stolen....check your credit report to make sure the cc company doesnt show you with a balance owed or that you refuse to pay.
